5 ESSENTIALS FOR THIS YEAR’S FESTIVALS

If you’re an avid festival goer you probably already know what is good to take, what is essential and what is not needed. With festivals becoming increasingly popular in recent years there is a wealth of new attendees that may need a bit

of guiding through their packing process.

Here are my top 5 things to take with you on a festival weekend;

COAT/JACKET

Most people look at the weather and think that they will not need a coat or jacket if the forecast is positive. The truth of the matter is that you probably will need one at some point, even if it doesn’t rain! Cheap ladies coats can be bought on the internet which is handy as I would not recommend spending too much as it will probably get muddy, smelly and thrown away the minute you walk through your front door.

WASH BAG

Attendees do not realise just how dirty you can get at a festival. They understand that there are no showers (On the campsites anyway), but don’t stop to think about all the mud, sticky alcohol and god knows what other bodily fluids being thrown about. You will get the most unclean you have ever been in your life so it’s always worth taking lots of deodorant, dry shampoo, breath mints and plenty of baby wipes!

FOOD & DRINK

It’s fair enough saying you’ll just ‘eat there’ but unless you have a small fortune to spend it isn’t always possible. Try taking foods which will keep and don’t need much preparation like crisps, fruit, cereal bars etc. they will fill you up and keep the price down. Beer tents will be everywhere but it’s the same pricey situation, dependant on the festival you should take in as much as you can and buy only if necessary.

DISPOSABLE CAMERA

They’re not ideal, but that’s what scanners are for. Don’t take an expensive digital camera if you want it to still be in one piece or at least working when you get back. Everyone is trampling around, drunk and spilling stuff everywhere. Take a disposable camera or 2 and have the pictures developed onto a disk (Most photo printers now offer this service).

CHEAP MOBILE PHONE

Taking you iPhone 5’s and Galaxy S4’s is not a good idea. Your best bet is to grab an old Nokia that will probably last the whole weekend off one charge and go cold turkey from the internet for a few days. Can you survive without Facebook?

Festivals are great experiences and you will have memories for the rest of your lives. Just don’t make the same mistakes as a lot and pack unwisely!
