Herman Beverdam is the third generation of pigeons flyers in his family. His father and his grandfather were very succesful fanciers in the 1920’ies up to National Level. After the war - when all pigeons were killed - a new start was made with birds of Janssen Brothers and Maurice Delbar. As a little kid Herman was allowed to handle the most celebrated champions of that time … it formed him for live. He was very successful racing with his father and learned from the all time greats in pigeons sport and the natural talent in selection could be refined. The breeding techniques, the family building; Herman was a good student!

Many acquisitions at the Janssens and also the introduction of the Karel Meulemans family, formed the base of the Beverdam Janssen colony; famous worldwide. Because of the popularity of the Janssen strain and having the very best ever to leave Janssen Brothers lofts, the great demand for his pigeons. Even though the exceptional results in his own

lofts remained very important, success in the lofts of his clients made Herman Beverdam’s name famous worldwide. Until the day of today Herman is a well-respected name in pigeonsport. Because of his honesty, his super quality pigeons and off course the decades of top performances.

Dennis Beverdam grew up with pigeons and like his dad he had the opportunity to handle the worlds best pigeons at a very young age, like Janssen Brothers loft! After his study, the Beverdam family was reunited and Dennis could join back into the sport and helped out his dad all the way. Since 2010 he is a fulltime fancier and with father Herman he now runs the breeding stud and the racing loft. The boost was there; new blood, new goals were set and the results were fantastic. Beverdam Racing Pigeons are back in pole position.

Over 50 years Herman Beverdam has been racing with the direct Janssen pigeons from Arendonk. He and Dennis were good friend of the brothers and they frequently visited the last living - Louis Janssen - frequently at Schoolstraat 6 in Arendonk.

It is fair to say the Beverdam-Janssen family is one of the best preserved Janssen-colonies in the world, also able to perform in a true champion style. Only the best Janssen ever came to reinforce the breeding loft and they were strongly selected by results of offspring … it meant a magical method and made Herman and Dennis Beverdam the proud owners of the most successful original Janssen family in the world.
