Do not enter areas marked as off-limits. Areas not marked as off-limits may also be affected by volcanic activity, so please read and under- stand the following before starting your hike. Notice! Every individual is responsible for him/herself when hiking. Please bring along a radio, mobile phone, compass etc. and constantly check for updates on wind direction, weather etc. When you feel any abnormalities such as earthquakes or rumbling, abandon hike and descend the mountain in a quick and calm manner. Please ensure that you have read the information and notices below(at the bottom of this brochure). Please submit a climbing notification before climbing the mountains. Please bring a helmet with you when you hike. Use portable outdoor toilet packs! The disposal of waste (from hikers) has always been a serious problem. Besides being an unpleasant inconvenience to fellow hikers, the amount of waste left behind is too large for natural breakdown by micro-organisms (due to the low temperatures), and results in serious environmental damage. When hikers wander off the trail and into the vegetation, they are endangering themselves as well as harming the local ecosystem. In order to protect the beautiful natural environment of Kirishima and to exercise good manners, please kindly make use of portable outdoor toilets. Kindly dispose of used toilet packs in the toilet pack collection box at the start point of the hiking trail, or dispose of the used packs at home. (1363m)

(1301m)This two hour course begins near the Ebino Eco Museum and continues clockwise past the three volcanic c r a t e r l a k e s , B y a k u s h i L a k e (Byakushi-Ike), Rokkannon-Miike Lake, and Fudo Lake(Fudo-Ike). This steep path leads to the summit of Mt. Shiratori, where one can enjoy the view of a 600m diameter crater, Mt. Sakurajima (to the south) , and Mt. Karakuni-dake. The area has a a large variety of plant-life and is covered by Miyama Kirishima Azalea and greenery in the early summer, and autumn colors in the fall. It takes approximately 60 minutes to hike up Mt. Koshikidake from the forked road north of Fudo Lake. Inside the volcanic crater of Mt. Koshikidake, there is a plain of Susuki grass and a low-rise wetland moor (relatively rare in southern Kyushu) where the carnivorous Sundew plant grows. The trail will become steeper and narrower towards the summit, so please exercise caution when hiking.

●Please submit a climbing notification before climbing the mountains.●Please bring a helmet with you when you hike.
