Cluster Parishes www.cpsswb.weebly.com Our readings speak of what it means to us to be a disciple and how we relate that to other people. Do we recognise the presence of God and of Jesus in our daily life? Symbolically, the boat and those in it represent the church, the community in Christ. The `beloved’ disciple, who has a close relationship with Jesus, is first to recognise his presence; the impetuous one can’t wait to meet Jesus again; the others are left to follow with their catch. The joyful, fuller meaning of their lives resulting from this encounter with Jesus had to be shared with others. To be a disciple of Jesus, it is not enough to say `I love you’ but to demonstrate that love by having the courage, when the call comes, to do difficult things – we have Jesus’ promise that he will always be with us!
