The #1 reason professional racers always wear “custom fit” leathers is for maximum safety and protection.

Of course racers realize a snug fit effects aerodynamics as it relates to precious M.P.H. for drafting and cornering in the race environment and no doubt racers demand maneuverability thru full range of motion but one of the major factors to your walking away from a crash is a fit which keeps your armor on spot during the crash.

Why the Pros Always Wear a Custom Fit:It’s about Safety, Safety and Safety

Every Comet Suit/Jacket we create is cut & sewn piece by piece based off of your measurements or off our sizing charts to create a suit that fits like a second skin. Our goal is that every piece of armor stays put in the high abrasion area in the case of a crash and there is no extra material to obstruct your movement when

you are riding and every suit we supply is always built for Pro level race performance

All Leather is Not Created Equal: Top, Full, Split: What are you really paying for?

The type of leather your buying is an extremely important element of the suit you wear as in most cases in a fall crash it will be that standing between you skin (Flesh) and the payment or infield.

Don’t be fooled. You need to know what the suit or jacket is made of:

1) Full Grain LeatherIt the highest grade which has not had blemishes or imperfections removed.

2) Top Grain Leather It is a high grade that has been buffed out to hide the imperfections and the Split Layer is separated away, making it thinner than Full Grain leather.

3) Corrected Grain LeatherThe leather is produced through the sanding of the hide.

4) Split Grain leather Lower quality who’s use includes cheap leather jackets and upholstered bags.

Full Grain 1.2 mm cowhide or 1.1 mm

kangaroo is a must and is all we use at Comet

Premium Protection:Armor must be proven; Have you seen the crash test?

This may sound funny or over done but again don’t be fooled until you have seen how a suit reacts in a crash you really don’t know the quality of this suit. We have spoke to numerous riders who have purchased cheap and sometimes expensive leathers only to have them fall part in a crash

Maybe the manufacturer skimped on the zippers many times that’s the case or as we stated earlier the leather was a proper grade as advertised –either way it comes to show me the proof

This goes to show you how a Custom fitted suit can save you.”

Colin Gast WERA Pro Racer“

“Your suit really saved my butt, literally. Thank you for making this suit so safe, I really appreciate it. Everything did what it was supposed to and I'm able to walk away from this incident without a scratch. Once again, thank you for the great suit, it worked absolutely first class. Fitment is one of the most important parts of a suit, and this goes to show how well a perfectly fitted suit can save you.”

Putting it All Together:Double Sewn Kevlar seams are a must

// Page 7

Point blank there is no substitute for REAL Kevlar stitching and REAL Kevlar stretch material. Yes you can use nylon and other material but at the end of the day the after the leather is proven worth your seams are going to tear at top speeds if they are not made of Kevlar

Just look at these pictures from Noah’s crash in which he rolled and skid into a shoulder slide.

Notice how the Kevlar seams did not collapse during the skid when the leather maintained it structural integrity. The force of the fall was then transferred to the Kevlar seams did not move and 1/8 of an inch

See how the snug fit of the leathers allowed the abrasion to distribute the fall evenly so that his neck and shoulder were not forced to take on extra force during the crash, which could have been fatal.

“8 out of 10 street riders cite safety as their # 1 concern when riding on the urban street.”

Independent Motorcycle study Street smart Project, 2013

In a crash you cannot afford to guess how your suit will react, everything needs Kevlar seams and leather that is high and tight; nothing can be too loose to catch, snag, or hook onto anything that could compromise your fall and put undue stress on your limbs and body.
