5 Quick ways to Increase Facebook Engagement in

2014

Are you spending a lot of your time posting on your Facebook business pages only to find that

most, if not all, of you posts are producing lack luster shares and likes? I am going to let you in

on a little secret, well 5 actually, that will increase the likelihood of engaging your Facebook

business prospects and breathing life into your Facebook business page.

Here is Facebook by the numbers. It currently has 1.5 Billion users worldwide and out of those

there are 699 Million people that log onto Facebook daily. This is up over 25% from a couple of

years ago. The average person is on Facebook 15-16 hours per month. Is it any wonder then

that there are 2.5 million websites that have integrated with Facebook. The owners of these sites

obviously realize they have to follow the eyeballs.

In fact, 77% of B2C companies have acquired a customer from Facebook and 43% of B2B

companies have done the same.

Here are my 5 quick ways to increase Facebook Engagement

in 2014.

1) Pay attention to how you are posting:

I know there are days we want to fill our posts with Pulitzer prize winning creative writing

pieces, however stats show that if you limit the characters you post to 80 or less, your posts get

more interaction. Try using emoticons (those funny little faces that you can tag in your post) as

it will increase the chances that people will comment. If you can, ask questions of your audience

in your post because it will most certainly increase your comment rate. Lastly, the occasional

quote into your post will increase the likelihood of more likes and shares.

2) Use that creative bone in your body:

Stats show that 35% of Facebook Fans like a page so they can participate in contests. You can

run a quick contest of ‘like’ vs. ‘share’. This can be done fairly easily for an upcoming sports

match where the user is prompted to ‘like’ for team A and ‘share’ for team B.

3) Timing is everything:

There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Posting multiple times a day, or everyday,

may end up at a point of diminishing returns. The ideal amount of posting is every other day. In

addition to that you should aim at posting around 1pm to 3pm. Engagement rates for posts are

18% higher on Thursdays and Fridays and over 30% higher on the weekends.

4) What to talk about?

Research shows that there are certain topics that are universally shared. Some of the top ones

are: Learning, Technology and Social Media, Travel, Food and Drink, Health and Sports,

Fashion and Shopping. Try to find a way to talk about your company in the context of one of

these topics and you will find that it creates a conversation.

5) Title is of the utmost importance:

Spending time crafting cool titles for your posts or shareable content is worth the investment.

The click through rate is largely determined by how people receive the title of your post. The

most shareable words to use in your title are: Why, Most, World, How, Health, Big, Says, Best

and Facebook.

You can certainly spend money on Facebook Ads to increase the traffic to your Facebook

Business Page, however leveraging some of the quick tips above are a more economical way to

get more ‘likes’ and ‘shares’ on your page.

Using these 5 quick tips as a guideline for posting on your Facebook Business Page will most

certainly increase your engagement levels and attract more prospects or strengthen relationships

with your existing fans.

If you have other ways that you feel are worth mentioning, feel free to leave a comment or

connect with us on our Facebook Business Page. And, of course, if you have questions, please

reach out! I may just have the answer.
