Look back on AP record and survey buyers on rationalizing which suppliers to enable first. Large spend, frequent suppliers, and eCommerce sites available are good candidates. Consider supplier enablement in phrases. Be sure to check with corporate policy.

1. Enable internal catalog and maintain by procurement organization – best when the catalog content is updated regularly but not frequently (ex. Quarterly), so the procurement team knows when to expect a new catalog.
2. Enable suppliers to load their own content with procurement approving – best for suppliers who are familiar with the catalog tool and items don’t change on a daily basis.
3. Punch out – best for commodity or items with price/service change frequently. 4. Hybrid – supplier has large quantity of items but you can identify the top 20% of items that fulfill 90%
of orders – you want to create punch out for this supplier and also add those 20% items into internal catalog (Level 2 punch out)

A good catalog tool should provide you with loading, error reporting, cleaning, and correcting functionality. Catalog data can be easily populated into excel template and uploaded to the system without any programming skills.

Once the supplier catalogs are loaded successfully, procurement administrator can review, approve, and publish content to the marketplace. The catalog tool should allow full or partial approval of the catalogs.
