Tip #2: Always consider your audienceYou have a message you want to be heard, but how you decide to share this message will fall flat unless it’s tailored to your target audience.

Remember: Who is going to read this site?

Identify your target audiences and consider what content is most relevent for them.

Sitemaps are a great way to think out your user journey and plan where your content will live

This could be as simple as a pen and paper list.

Questions to ask yourself:

+ What is the purpose of this page?

+ Does this page help me meet my goal forthis website? How?

+ Does this page provide relevent content formy target audience?

+ What kinds of information will I be posting on this page? (Copy, photos, video etc.)

+ Does this page give my user an actionableitem to follow?

Tip #4: Use your website goal to make key content decisions

Why are you creating this website?

Having a clear goal helps to frameyour entire project.

Every time you add a new page or piece of contentmake sure you ask:

+ Does this help me achieve my goal?

+ Is this relevent for my audience? Will it ressonatewith them?

+ Am I providing value?

Tip #5: Don’t fall victim to content delay syndrome

Content is tough. It’s not just the copy on the pageit’s all the pieces that fill up your website.

+ Content requires you to be a curator of what copy, photos, video, and other assets you already have. Italso requires you to think about what’s missing to fillin the blanks

+ Content requires you to create a system where previously there may not have been one

+ Content requires you to invest a lot of time forresearch, writing, collecting, editing
