5 Ways To Take Control Of Your Life

As children, we’re told we can be anything we want to be. We dream large and let nothing lead us astray.We growolder, the years pass and we lose site of our dreams. We’re taught to write resumes, choose college courses toimprove our overall value to employers and set aside money so that one day we may retire and live outside acubicle for at least a few years. Life is thought to be tragic and mundane. Wake, work, pay and sleep. There has tobe more to life than this. Right?

Where did we lose sight of what life truly has to offer? When did we become so skeptical of incredible opportunities?When did tragic and mundane become normal? If you don’t like your job, your weekends consist of bars andhangovers, you’re out of shape and you are constantly in a state of financial crisis, you need to take control of yourlife. How? We’re going to explore a few incredibly essential steps. Here are 5 ways to take control of your life.

1. Take control of your thoughts

Your thoughts are the very center of your entire being. Your thoughts turn to words. Your words turn to actions. Ifyou’re living in a constant state of pessimism, you need to change that now. Think about it. Negativity will not make

your more money. Nor will it create solutions to your biggest problems in life. Negativity is a prison for your mind thatwe’ve all grown so accustom to and while you’re trapped you’ll never grow. Challenge your mind. Find a positivesolution to every problem and a positive outcome for every situation. Your entire life will change with a simplechange of mindset. Here are some steps you can take to truly take control of your thoughts.

1. Every morning take at least 30 minutes to yourself. Go for a walk, jog, ride a bike or meditate. Somethingproductive to your state of mind.

2. While you take this time, ask yourself “what am I thankful for?“

3. Mind your own language. By saying you can’t do something, you surely won’t. With negativity words, nopositive outcome will surface.

4. Never doubt yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself, nobody will.

2. Take control of your relationships

If you want to take control of your life, you have to surround yourself with people that are in control of theirs. You arethe average of your five closest friends. If you’re around people that aren’t moving forward, YOU’RE not movingforward. This may be the most difficult step in the whole process. I’ve distanced myself from some of my closestfriends because they refused to grow. I’ve also watched my successful friends leave relationships for the samereason. Always remember, if you’re not growing together, you’re growing apart.

While observing your relationships may be the hardest part of the journey, it’s also the most enlightening. I can tellyou from experience that ridding yourself of toxic individuals opens up worlds of opportunity. It’s incredible howmuch you can do in a short time. Write a list of your closest friends and examine each one closely. Are they driven?Passionate? Can you see them being successful in their future? If not, you need to distance yourself. This doesn’tmean you have to cut them off completely, but definitely limit your time spent with them.

3. Take control of your body

Your health should be on your main priority. ALWAYS. If you’re not healthy, what good will success be? You willnever live to enjoy it. Stop telling yourself you don’t have time or you’re too tired. I’ve never met somebodysuccessful that was ever too busy for themselves. Queue up an audiobook or podcast and go for a walk every day.When you get used to that, step it up to jogging. Do whatever you can to keep yourself in shape.

Your diet is incredibly important as well. If you’re eating fast food daily or you’re filling your body with trans fats,you’re setting yourself up for mental and physical failure. Your food is your bodies fuel. If you’ve been feeling tired,mentally drained and out of shape, your diet is probably hindering you from being your best on a daily bases. Youdon’t have to go on a bland diet of chicken and rice, but try to clean up your foods. More fruits and veggies, healthyproteins and some decent carbs.

4. Start setting goals (and working toward them)

It’s my belief that goals are a critical part of human happiness. We have the need to consistently grow. I’ve readcountless studies and observed many cases myself in which people begin to sit stale in life and begin to fall intodepression. When you have nothing to work toward, you don’t feel like you have a purpose. Therefore, to takecontrol of your life you must set goals. You have dreams and aspirations. We all do. But what separates thesuccessful from the mediocre? Action!

1. I want you to set one goal right now. In setting your goal you must be specific. If you want to lose weight, howmuch? If you want more money, how much? If your goal is to start your own business, what business andwhat do you aim to accomplish.

2. I want you to list 3 things you can do RIGHT NOW to move closer to achieving that goal.

3. I want you to do at least one of them TODAY!!! Not tomorrow, not when I get time… TODAY!

4. Continue to work toward that goal every day.

5. Get uncomfortable

In order to truly take control of your life, you need to get out of your comfort zone. Sitting on the couch every eveningwatching Netflix is great from time to time, but don’t let it consume you. You need to get out and see the world. Youneed to look at business opportunities and quit your job that you hate so much. Open a book, go for a run, see theworld… do something. Over the last year, I’ve stepped outside and realized there’s an entire world in front of me.Things I’ve lived next to my entire life but never opened my eyes wide enough to see. I quit working for people Ididn’t like, stopped doing things I didn’t want to do and started living. I found ways to make a living at home andways to actually make money doing the things I love.

So STOP SITTING IN THE CONFINES OF YOUR SMALL WORLD. Don’t be afraid to chase your dreams. You canalways go back to work tomorrow.

I took a big leap when I quit my job and decided to start my own business. Yet, not a day has passed that I don’t lovemy decision. There are so many opportunities out there waiting for us to take advantage. All you have to do is openyour eyes and look.
