n Entering the vehicleTo unlock the vehicle, simply grasp either of thefront door handles.

Theft Deterrent System
n Engine immobilizer systemThe engine immobilizer system prevents theengine from being started in the event that anattempt is made to start the vehicle using anunregistered key. The security indicator light flashes to indicate thatthe system is set.
n AlarmThe system sounds the alarm and flashes lights when forcible entry is detected.To set the alarm: lock all the doors from outside the vehicle. The security indicator lightcomes on to indicate that the alarm is in its preparation state. When the indicator lightbegins to flash, the system is armed.To deactivate or stop the alarm: start the engine, or unlock the doors or trunk using theelectronic key or the wireless remote control.
n Steering lockThe steering wheel locks when the engine switchis in OFF mode.

Driving and Seat Position Memory System (If Equipped)
n Setting memory positionsWhile holding down the SET button, press andhold one of the memory buttons (1, 2, or 3) untilyou hear a beep.
The current position of the seat, as well as theposition of the steering wheel and the outsiderear view mirrors (for the driver's seat only) isrecorded.
n Recalling memory positionsPress one of the memory buttons (1, 2, or 3).
n Linking driving position memory with door unlock operation (driver's seat only)While holding down the desired memory button,
press and hold either the or button onthe wireless remote control until you hear a beep.
The seats can be returned to a previously set position by simply pressing a button.The position of the steering wheel and the outside rear view mirrors is adjusted along with thedriver's seat.Positions can be conveniently recorded for the vehicle's primary drivers and passengers.
Linking driving position memory to the door unlock operation allows the memory positionto be recalled automatically when the driver's door is opened. (The linked function does notoperate if the driver's door is unlocked using the mechanical key or manually from insidethe vehicle.)

Cruise Control (If Equipped)
n Setting the speedPress the ON-OFF button.
The system will turn on.Accelerate or decelerate to the desiredspeed, and then push the lever down.
This sets the speed in the cruise controlmemory.
n CancelingTo temporarily cancel the cruise control, pullthe lever toward you. To resume the cruisecontrol, push the lever up.To turn the system off, press the ON-OFF but-ton.

Electronic Key Alarm
The electronic key alarm uses an alarm and warning messages to indicate that the electronic key has been used improperly. Take appropriate measure in response to any warning mes-sages that are displayed. In some cases, an alarm may sound without an accompanying warning message. If so, follow the correction procedure in the table below.

Alarm Situation Correction procedure
Exterior alarm sounds once for 2 seconds
Tried to lock the doors using the entry function while the electronic key is still inside the passenger compartment
Retrieve the electronic key from the passenger com-partment and lock the doors again.
Tried to exit the vehicle with the electronic key and lock the doors without first turning the engine switch OFF
Turn the engine switch OFF and lock the doors again.
Closed the trunk while the electronic key is still inside and all doors are locked
Retrieve the electronic key from the trunk and close the trunk lid.
Exterior alarm sounds once for 10 seconds
Tried to lock the vehicle using the entry function while a door is open
Close all of the doors and lock the doors again.
Interior alarm sounds continuously*
Tried to open the door and exit the vehicle without shifting the shift lever to P
Shift the shift lever to P.
