+Cross-cultural note:

In informal introductions, English speakers use first names. In formal situations, they use titles such as Mr., Mrs., or Ms.

When introducing someone, don’t just say his or her name. It’s polite to give some information to help begin a conversation (e.g., This is my friend, Jim.)

When meeting someone for the first time, it isn’t polite to ask personal questions about money, age, or religion.

In American culture, it is traditional to introduce a man to a woman, and a younger person to an older person. In other words, you mention the woman’s name or the older person’s name first. (Gail, this is my friend, Jim. Grandpa, this is my friend, Alex.)

Note: Be careful when you use the English versions of “ไม่เป็นไร”. Those used to respond to “thank you” cannot be interchanged with those used to respond to “apologizing”.
