The Vice Chancellor is pleased to sanction their admission to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. The titles of their PhD research were “Genetics of drought tolerance in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.)”, “Genetic evaluation of maize (Zea mays L.) accessions for grain and fodder yield”, “Weed management studies in system of rice intensification (SRI)”, “Assessment of growth and genotoxicity in peripheral blood erythrocytes of fish exposed to metals toxicity”, “Morpho-anatomical and physiological adaptations of some native Schoenoplectus spp. to salt stress”, “Physiological strategies to improve stand establishment and yield of Spring Maize under early and late sown”, “Evaluating wheat performance by silicon application under late sown conditions”. Now the number of UAF PhD club has been raised to 1133.

SITUATION VACANT 1. Applications are invited for one post of Apps Developer from candidates possessing BS Computer Science

(Hons.)/MSc Computer Science having sufficient knowledge and skill of PHP, Net and Database with experience in Android/iOS Apps work will be preferred. Appointment will be made on contract basis on a negotiable pay. The applications along with CVs and testimonials etc. should reach the office of the Director, Institute of Agri. Extension and Rural Development, UAF within 7 days after the publication of this notice. The University reserves the right not to fill the vacancy without assigning any reason. 2. Applications are invited for a post of Research Associate on “Population estimates and dengue infection rates in the field collected Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti adults from Lahore, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi” for a period of six months under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Waseem Akram as PI at a consolidated pay of Rs. 8000/- per month. The funds for salary are provided by the health department in the project. The applicant must be enrolled as MSc (Hons.) Entomology Students. Applications are invited for the post of one Research Fellow @ Rs. 13,000/- per month, under project “Dissemination of Seed Production Technology of Important Crops (Component I: Vegetable Seed Production)” funded by Endowment Funds Secretariat (EFS), UAF. QUOTATIONS/BIDS Bid # 53/14: Sealed bids are invited from the registered firms of the UAF for supply of Hydrochloric Acid (HCI) under project titled “Arsentic Removal from Drinking Water Using Agriculture/Food-Industry Solid Wastes as Low-Cost Sorbents” UAF. The detailed and other pre-requisites can be had from the Directorate of Procurement & Inventory Control (DPIC) during closing hours. The bids should reach in the Directorate within 5 days from the date of the publication of the Campus News. The bid money @ 2% of the quoted value must accompany the bid in favour of Director (P&IC), UAF.

AUCTION NOTICE 1. An open auction will be conducted dated 21-06-2014 at 10:30 am at the experimental research station of Water

Management Research Centre at PARS-UAF for auction of about 10 kanal Maize Grain Crop standing in the field. Maize Grain Crop can be seen at the site”. Under section 236A of Income Tax Ordinance 2001, advance income tax @ 10% of the sale price will be collectd from the successfully bidder. One third of the total price will be recovered on the spot, and the remaining amount will be paid after the approval of competent authority. The competent authority reserves the right to accept or reject bid without assigining any reason.

2. Dead stock, including used non repairable tires, used oil, batteries, old scrap of tractors, etc required to sale through public auction on 21-06-2014 at 09:00 am at Directorate of Farms, UAF. The persons who are interested, may come & bid. One third of the total price will be recovered on the spot and the remaining amount will be received after the approval of the competent authority. Income tax @ Rs. 10% of the sale proceeds should be recover from the highest bidder.
