Hands-on Intro to Extraction Sockets (this course requires and additional fee) Participants will learn how to properly evaluate and communicate patient options for tooth removal. In addition , they will learn surgical techniques with proper instrumentation, the conditions for guided bone regeneration, and material choice in the preservation and augmentation of an extraction socket site. Topics include: Smile & Implant Provisionals and Abutment Design Management of Socket Grafts Hands-on Socket Grafting with and without a buccal plate Guided Surgery Planning and Immediate Implant Placement Basics of Guided Bone Regeneration (Horizontal Ridge Augmentation) Hands-on Guided Bone Regeneration for the deficient ridge

Pedo and Treating Trauma: This course will explore the additional skills needed to provide dental care to the pediatric patient including tried and true procedures as outlined below: Effective use of stainless steel crowns Necessary and effective pulp therapy Benefits of bilateral and unilateral space maintainers How to successfully take an impression How to diagnose and provide treatment plans Determine appropriate X-Ray’s for young patients Appropriate use of fluoride Current options for repairing anterior primary teeth Understanding of the healing process for trauma and a Step-by step evaluation approach Logical evaluation form that reviews extra and intra-oral soft tissues ⁄ facial and dental bones ⁄ periodontia and tooth structures Pre-packaged trauma supply list and a listing of the necessary radiographs, clinical tests, specialists referral list and at timetable for follow-up treatment

Oral Surgery for GPs: Dr. Silegy’s presentation focuses on topics relevant for contemporary dentistry and helping GPs know what procedures they can safely add in to their practice and when to refer out to specialists. Topics Include: Surgical removal of the impacted 3rd molar: Maxillary and Mandibular Surgical removal of erupted molars, erupted 3rd molars and retained roots Patient assessment and planning for a continuum of treatment challenges from recession defects, extraction site management, immediate implant placement, through more complex hard and soft tissue defects Case studies and video demonstrating connective tissue grafting with closed harvest from the palate and tuberosity, as well as, management of combined bone and soft tissue defects.
