Chapter 1 : All you need to know about mattresses

1.1 Mattress glossary: what’s in a mattress? Are terms like compression, density, gauge or memory foam unfamiliar to you? Are you about to shop for a new mattress and you want to do so armed with knowledge? Here is our little mattress glossary to help you with your shopping.

Boxpsring:

The function of the boxspring is to give added support the mattress.

Compression:

Compression is a measurement of how soft or firm the mattress is. The scale ranges from 13.6 to 83.3 lbs.

Density:

The density of a mattress relates to its mass per volume. The higher the density, the higher the quality and durability. Please note: The more weight on the mattress, the higher the density should be in order to prolong the lifespan of the mattress.

Fibers:

The fibers are one of the cushioning materials that play a key role in comfort and insulation, including protecting you from the heat and moisture given off by your body while you sleep.

GA (gauge):

Gauge, or GA, measures the size of the springs and corresponds to the diameter of the steel wire component.

High Resilience Foam:

The high resilience foam (HR) is a cold foam whose cell structure makes it easy to absorb moisture. It’s a material that breathes very well.

Latex foam:

Latex foam, much like memory foam, moulds to the form of your body. Latex foam is a good choice for people with allergies.

Bed bugs :

The bed bug is a pest measuring a few millimeters that can infect your bed. Don’t worry there are ways of eliminating them. See our article on bed bugs here.

Mattress pad:

The mattress pad is thick piece of fabric that lies on top of the mattress for optimum comfort and durability.

Memory Foam:

Memory foam is a pressure and temperature sensitive material that moulds to the shape of an individual’s body.

Mites:

Mites are microscopic arachnids invisible to the naked eye. Dust mites do not cause skin problems, but they can cause or enhance respiratory problems, allergies and conjunctivitis. Here are 10 ways to get rid of them.

Polyurethane foam:

Polyurethane foam provides a stable, firm and even support. One of its advantages is to minimize the transfer of movement from one side of the bed to the other.

Slats:

The slats are used to reinforce the bed frame and provide good support to the mattress.

Springs:

The springs are resilient structures that frequently consist of hardened steel. Springs are used in the composition of the mattresses because they bounce back to their original shape after having pressure on them. Since there are several types, let your mattress consultant know about your specific needs so that he or she can help you find the spring best suited to your sleeping conditions.

1.2 Mattress guide

Our mattresses influence our lives more than we might think. The better you sleep, the more energy you’ll have and the more effective you’ll be. That's why choosing the right mattress is so important.

There are several types of mattresses on the market and it can be difficult to get a clear understanding of their differences when you are not an expert. This guide will help you to distinguish between different types of mattresses and make a wise choice when shopping for your next mattress.

Spring Mattress

Spring mattresses are by far the most common on the market. This is a conventional construction that is still the norm today. Normally, the mattress will consist of a spring cage below and a padded portion on the top. Springs are partly responsible for the strength and durability of the mattress, while the padding provides comfort.

A strong spring cage ensures that you will be well supported by the mattress, won’t collapse in the middle or on the sides and will last many years. A quality padded layer ensures a comfort that will remain the same for years to come.

There are of course a wide range of spring mattresses that will vary in terms of price, quality and comfort, but in general, it is a wise choice that has a proven track record.

Pocket Spring Mattress

As the name suggests, this is a subcategory of spring mattresses. This innovation isn’t new (the first pocket spring mattress was born in 1901), but these mattresses have more recently been marketed by the wellknown Simmons "bowling ball" advertisement.

In a traditional spring mattress, the springs are connected to each other horizontally or vertically. When part of the mattress moves (as in the case of a person who turns in the night), the vibration will be transmitted through the springs of the mattress to some extent.

In the case of the mattress with pocket springs, each spring is individual and not connected to other springs. The main advantage of this type of mattress is that if a person moves in bed, the other person will feel it much less. Needless to say that this type of mattress is especially popular among couples who sleep together. Most brands offer this type of spring in their medium to highend mattresses

Memory Foam Mattress

This type of foam has become very popular since the mid2000s and it has several names. It is often referred to as viscoelastic foam, temper foam or “NASA foam”. The main characteristic is that this foam moulds to your body shape when you’re in bed and when you move in or out of bed, it completely recovers its original shape.

Spring mattresses can have padding that contain memory foam, but some mattress without springs also use it. Brands such as Zedbed offer mattresses that use highdensity foam as a base and memory foam on top. This type of mattress (when the quality is good) can provide a unique comfort and last for several years (some have a warranty of 20 years).

Since memory foam perfectly contours to the body, it effectively relieves pressure points that can be felt during sleep, especially in the hips, shoulders and lower back. This type of mattress is often recommended for people with special health conditions such as arthritis or fibromyalgia.

While these mattresses are popular, comfort is not unanimous. The sensation of sinking into the mattress is unique and may require some getting used to. Something to consider is that people with reduced mobility may have difficulty moving and turning in this kind of mattress.

The Latex Mattress

Like memory foam mattresses, latex mattresses are considered "specialized" mattress. Latex (except for synthetic types) is a natural material that comes from the sap of a tree and it is highly durable.

Also like memory foam, latex is found in the cushion layer of some highend mattresses. Again, brands such as Zedbed manufacture mattresses without springs that use latex foam on the top layer (instead of memory foam).

Latex foam provides a different comfort that will suit many. It effectively moulds to the shape of the body (to a lesser extent than the memory foam) and thus reduces pressure points experienced during sleep. People who do not like the sagging sensation of the memory foam often prefer the comfort of latex.

This completes our overview of the different types of mattresses available on the market.

1.3 How to choose the right mattress: characteristics of memory viscoelastic foam

The memory foam mattress, also known the viscoelastic mattress, is one of the most popular types of mattress on the market. Is it the right mattress for your needs? We’ve written this guide to help you understand more clearly and who knows, maybe it will help you find your new memory foam mattress! What is a Memory Foam Mattress?

Did you know memory foam was developed by NASA to provide comfortable seating during shuttle launches? What characterizes memory foam is that it resumes its original shape with every movement, and is constantly adapting to your body’s position. In a memory foam mattress, the conventional box spring that supports the mattress is replaced with a latex foam base in order to comfort and support to the spine during sleep.

The Benefits of Memory Foam Mattresses

There are several advantages to choosing a memory foam mattress. Here are the main points:

• Improves moulding and contouring to the body

• Relieves pressure on the joints

• Offers good support for the spine

• Recovers its shape with each movement to adapt to the new sleeping position

• Has higher density (and therefore more quality and durability)

As for disadvantages, the memory foam mattress is less recommended for people who tend to sweat a lot when sleeping. Due to the thermosensitivity of memory foam, the mattress is sensitive to body heat.

How to Choose the Right Memory Foam Mattress

There are many models of memory foam mattress suitable for every pocketbook. Don’t hesitate to go to a specialty store, (we cannot emphasize that enough) and connect with an experience instore mattress specialist. Once in the store, the real test is to try out several kinds of mattresses.

1.4 Buying a mattress : 3 debunked myths to read before buying a new mattress Some myths die hard! If you are preparing to purchase a new mattress, it’s best to be an informed consumer. In fact, since your mattress will follow for several years, it is important to make a properly informed choice that will fully satisfied you. This part of our ebook will help you demystify 3 misconceptions about mattresses and help you find the right mattress knowingly.

Myth # 1: A firm mattress is better for the back

False. To determine the degree of firmness that suits you best, you must rely on your sleeping posture. As a matter of a fact, how you sleep will require a mattress that supports certain parts of your body. For example, if you sleep on your back, your lower back should be fully supported on the mattress. However, if you sleep on your side, your supporting points should be located at the hips, shoulders and neck.

Myth # 2: Your must change your mattress every 10 years

Not necessarily. If the mattress longevity is estimated at 10 years, changing it will still depend on its quality and on the way you have maintained it over time. You can hang on to a quality mattress for over 10 years, but it is also true to say that a lower quality mattress could unfortunately be good for recycling after 2 or 3 years only.

THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO BUYING A MATTRESS

Myth # 3: There are good mattresses at small price

False. Unfortunately for you, in order to find the right mattress and make sure you’re making a profitable investment that will keep you satisfied for years to come, you will have to avoid false bargains. If a mattress retails for less than $500, it’s a safe bet that the quality won't be at the height of your expectations and you will be disappointed to feel its comfort quickly deteriorate.

When you shop for a new mattress, also note that the store advisors’ expertise is usually extremely useful in order to avoid some common traps. If they do not answer all your questions to your satisfaction, it might mean that you’re not in the right mattress store. With proper advice, you'll be happy to find a mattress that will be a profitable investment for years to come and that will be perfect for you at any point. Quality sleep is so important!

Chapter 2 : How to know when it’s time to change your mattress

2.1 When should you replace your mattress? Unfortunately, a mattress does not last forever. So what is its lifetime? 5, 10, 15 years? We answer that mysterious question, and we share our tips on how to extend the life of your mattress for as long as possible.

How long is the life of a mattress?

Generally, the life of a mattress is about a decade long. However, its durability depends on several factors, primarily its quality and maintenance. When well chosen and well maintained, a mattress is an excellent longterm investment that could take you even beyond 10 years. The opposite is also true; a lower quality mattress that is less well maintained may not survive more than a few years.

How to know if you need a new mattress

There are unmistakable signs that it’s time for you to change mattresses. If your mattress sags toward the center; if it creaks; if the material is damaged or if the springs have shifted, then your mattress is showing signs of wear.

THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO BUYING A MATTRESS

However, your body is the best judge of the situation. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

How do you feel when you wake up? Do you feel stiff or achy? Do you feel that the quality of your sleep has decreased over the last year? When was your last good night’s sleep? Was it in a different bed than your

own? Do your become numb sometimes during the night? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then consider buying a new

mattress.

How to extend the life of a mattress?

Good news: there are tricks to extend the lifes of a mattress. The first precaution to take is to shop carefully for the mattress that suits you best. A quality, well suited mattress provides better longterm comfort. For proper maintenance that will maximize its life expectancy, here are some tips:

Protect it with a mattress cover Vacuum it when you change the sheets Rotate the headtotoe orientation every 3 to 6 months Follow the manufacturer's instructions and your instore specialists’ advice

In short, the life of your mattress is variable. You can put all the odds in your favour by buying a quality mattress and implementing regular maintenance practices. This will help maximize the number of years of comfort you get to spend in company of your comfy mattress.

2.2 Five problems you can solve by buying a new mattress Do you notice you’re sleeping less than you before? Do you not feel as comfortable in your bed as you used to? Do you have trouble waking up and does that affect your quality of life? If you’re nodding your head to these questions, it may be that your mattress is worn or that it no longer suits your needs. A damaged mattress greatly reduces sleep quality, in addition to causing its share of discomforts. Buying a new mattress is an important investment that will help you solve many problems, and here are the top five.

1. Muscle pain

Sleep is essential for recovery and regeneration of cells after a day's activities. An outdated mattress not only prevents your body from getting a good rest, but it is likely to create new muscular problems in your back, neck, arms, shoulders or hips, among others. It isn’t normal to wake up feeling all bent out of shape!

2. Insomnia

At bedtime do you toss and turn trying to find a comfortable position? Do you wake up regularly at night needing to readjust yourself? An uncomfortable bed can lead to insomnia. It’s time for a change!

3. Couples’ squabbles

Are you sometimes annoyed with your partner because you wake up feeling unrested? Do you think that the poor quality of your mattress prevents you from sleeping well together? Lack of sleep is a common source of friction for couples and surely you will agree with us, that's a shame! Buying a new mattress together can be a labour of love, and a way to rediscover the pleasure of sharing a good night's sleep! Afraid you don’t have the budget for a new mattress? That’s no problem with our attractive financing plans.

4. Unproductivity

Do you wake up stiff and achy? Do you start your day on the wrong foot because you haven’t slept well? That’s is no way to start your day! After a bad night's sleep, how do your work days unfold? It's a safe bet that they are painful, exhausting and less productive than when you are well rested. Sleep is essential for concentration, memory and learning. Sleeping comfortably will help you feel the rewarding pleasure of coming back home after a productive day at work.

5. Stress

Did you know that merely having a good night’s sleep helps to reduce stress? When you get the restful sleep you need, you'll be less stressed and better prepared to face the day. Ensuring that restful sleep in an important part of your routine is a must for good health and wellbeing. Take care of yourself!

Chapter 3 : How to choose your mattress

3.1 Six things to consider when choosing the right mattress Because you’ll be using it for many years to come, choosing a mattress should not be done lightly. Here are our top six things to consider when choosing the right mattress for you to make an informed choice.

1. Understand your needs

It is important to identify what needs your new mattress must meet. For example, you won’t buy the same mattress if it’s for a couple, a teenager or for an elderly person. If you are shopping a mattress for your couple you should make time to go shopping together as this decision will impact both of you. It is essential that you discuss your sleep habits with the sales representative who will then direct you to the types of mattresses that will suit you the best. And make sure you try the mattress as a couple!

Need a mattress for the cottage or a guest room? Let your representative know, and he will suggest more appropriate models.

2. The dimensions

Take a few minutes to write down the exact measurements of the room that will accommodate your new acquisition. It would be a shame to discover upon delivery that you can’t setup your new mattress in the desired location.

3. Leverage your representative’s expertise

If you do not trust your sales representative or if he doesn't answer all your questions, follow your instinct and go to another store. When you decide to buy a mattress, it’s usually a long term commitment, and therefore you should insist on being wisely advised! Specialized stores with smaller square footage tend to have better product quality and to offer a more personalized service.

4. Materials and springs

The quality of the materials in your mattress is important. Learn about its exact composition and opt for latex or memory foam (foam that remembers its initial shape)

15

THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO BUYING A MATTRESS

that offers minimum pressure on the body. As for springs, the bigger they are, the more they will support you and withstand the test of time. You share your bed? Pocket springs will prevent you from being disturbed by the movement of your sweetheart!

5. The right mattress for the right price

The price of a mattress is directly related to its quality. Thus, expect to pay at least $ 1000 for a comfortable and durable mattress. If you have specific needs or if you just want superior comfort, you’ll have to invest about $ 2,000. For a backup mattress, plan for $ 800 or less. Most of all, keep an eye for fake deals, you get the quality that you pay for.

6. Try it out!

Do not be shy! Let's face it; trying out mattresses is pretty fun! Dress comfortably to be at ease when trying to find the perfect mattresses. All experienced representatives will tell you that it is normal to take your time and to try before you buy. This step is especially important if the store where you made your purchase does not have a comfort guarantee!

Remember that all your questions are legitimate and that the more you explain your needs the better the representatives can help you find the mattress that will make you happy for years to come. Enjoy your shopping!

3.2 How to choose the right mattress according for your sleeping style Several factors come into play when it comes time to buying a new mattress. After choosing the right store and establishing your budget, you should have only one goal in mind: your comfort.

Specialty stores like Matelas Bonheur offer more than 100 models in order to meet the unique needs of each client. But what is the most important thing to consider when finding the perfect mattress? You! Tell us how you sleep and we will guide you to the bestsuited mattress model.

The mattress you choose should support the areas of your body that are most stressed during the hours when you are asleep. So, in what position do you usually sleep?

What’s the best mattress if you sleep on your side?

They say this is the most popular position and is used by about 70% of the population.

If you are in this group, the parts of your body that are most under stress when you sleep are:

Hips Shoulders Neck

You will need a mattress offering more flexibility and allowing blood flow for these pressure points. Just ask your consultant to direct you to the models that will mould to your hips and shoulders while maintaining support and will return to its shape when you get up. Remember to choose the right pillow to support your neck!

17

Page 19: 5IF VMUJNBUF HVJEF UP CVZJOH B NBUUSFTT€¦ · to distinguish between different types of mattresses and make a wise choice when shopping for your next mattress. Spring Mattress Spring

THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO BUYING A MATTRESS

Tip: Did you know it’s recommended for side sleepers to place a pillow between their knees in order to properly align their legs, pelvis and spine?

What’s the best mattress if you sleep on your back?

It is estimated that only about 15% of people adopt this sleeping posture, yet it is the best position to support to the human body through better weight distribution. If you are in this group, the parts of your body that are most stressed when you sleep are:

 Spine

 Back

The choice of the mattress for back sleepers trickier than for side sleepers. Ask your consultant to direct you to mattresses that effectively support the vertebrae in your back. However, avoid mattresses that are too firm as that does not help to support the lower back. You can also place a pillow under your knees to bring additional support to the lower back.

Tip: Do not hesitate to try as many mattresses as you please! There is no other way of knowing which one will suit the unique person you are.

What’s the best mattress if sleep on your stomach?

This is a position adopted by a low percentage of sleepers. This position has some associated annoyances like discomfort, numbness and bruxism (teeth grinding). This position puts a lot of pressure on these body parts:

 The cervical joints (neck)

 The thoracic joints (back)

Discuss how you like to sleep with your consultant so that he or she can direct you to a more firm mattress, without being too springy. Don’t feel shy about trying each mattress out! If you feel that your current sleeping position causes you too much discomfort, consult a healthcare professional. Remember that it’s possible to change the way you sleep and maximize your comfort. Why deprive yourself?

Tip: Stay away from soft mattress at all costs if you sleep on your stomach! A soft mattress will put you at risk for pain in your shoulders, hips and back.

Types of Feet

Sliding metal (long): This type of foot is ideal for hardwood floors because it does not mark the floor. In addition, it is very solid.

Sliding metal (short): If you wish to lower the height of your bed, this is the foot type for you

Sliding plastic: Standard height. Sliding adjustable: You can adjust the height of your bed frame to your taste with

this type of foot. An excellent option if your floor is not level. Wheels: This foot type is convenient since it moves well. Warning: this is not the

best choice if your floor is not level.

Let’s not forget that the bed frame is also a design element! A wellappointed bed frame adds style to the decor of your bedroom. It can be made of quilted fabric, wood or metal, among others. Do you ever happen to wake up with headaches, stiff neck or sore muscles? If the answer is yes, it may be that your pillow isn’t right for you. We guide you in your shopping for the perfect pillow!

Latex provides a significant relief on pressure points, in addition to being antibacterial and hypoallergenic. Its durability, elasticity and environmentallyfriendliness make it an increasingly popular option.

Microfibers

If you’re looking for a microfiber pillow, you will note that prices vary tremendously. While some models are attractive because of their low cost, make sure that you choose one that is 100% cotton: it will last much longer!

4.3 How to choose a duvet for your bed?

A good duvet is an essential components to your bedding, especially in Winter! Not only does it protect you from the cold, but it will help you sleep well too.

There are many different types of duvets in the market and prices vary widely. Here are some considerations and tips to help you choose the best duvet for your level of comfort:

The size bed

First of all, you need to determine the size of the quilt bed for you. It is advisable to buy a bigger bed comforter that your mattress. You'll be much more comfortable, especially if you share with your spouse.

Bed duvet types

Natural fibre duvet fillings

The main reasons why many people swear by down duvets is that they are particularly warm, they breathe well and they absorb moisture. Furthermore, a good quality down duvet has an excellent elasticity; you just have to shake it for it to regain its evenly spread puffy appearance. The best way to help you choose a quality down duvet that meets the manufacturing standards is to look for the label of the Down Association of Canada. Moreover, the price point for the duvet (you can find good down duvets starting at $300) is a good

indication of its quality. This is a longterm investment; a good quality bed duvet will easily last 15 to 20 years.

You can also buy feather duvets, but their quality is usually subpar to down duvets. Feather duvets are less insulating, heavier and less elastic. On the plus side however, feather duvets are more affordable as you can buy one at around a hundred dollars.

Synthetic fibre duvet fillings

Synthetic fibers bedding is typically made out of polyester. This type of duvet tends to retain more moisture and to provide less comfort than down duvets. That said, duvets made out of synthetic fibers are an excellent alternative for people who suffer from asthma or allergies, as well as for children (as they are easier to wash regularly).

You can buy a synthetic duvet by paying anything from $40 to $200 depending on the size of the bed.

The duvet cover

We recommend you only buy duvet covers made of 100% cotton. It is the best choice if you want to keep your duvet for a long time as it is the material the most suited for releasing moisture and letting your duvet breath.

Chapter 5 : How to maintain your mattress and sleep accessories

5.1 Practical tips for mattress care and maintenance Buying a mattress is not trivial. We often say it is a choice that will follow you for many years and will play a key role in your life. Therefore, you shouldn't forget to pamper your mattress to keep it in top shape and enjoy its healthy effects on the quality of your sleep. Here are our four simple and effective tips for cleaning and caring for your mattress.

1. Follow the manufacturer's and your sales advisor’s recommendations about mattress

Each mattress is unique. While there are versatile techniques that apply to all styles of mattress, each brand has its own specificities. By following the manufacturer's recommendations and your store adviser’s advice, you’ll be able to provide the specialized care that will enable your mattress to withstand the test of time.

Important tip: do not remove the tags or labels from your mattress as they’ll help you remember how best to take care of it.

2. Ventilate and free your mattress from moisture

During the night, the body releases water (about 100 liters of water a year), which is in part absorbed by your mattress, and fills it with moisture. This is an issue because moisture accelerates the aging of your mattress. No need to panic though: just make sure you ventilate your room regularly to help the moisture dissipate. For maximum effect: open the windows and remove the bedding to refresh and expel moisture both these parts of your bed in contact with the body. Better even use a dehumidifier in your room. Some dehumidifiers are very affordable and help manage the amount of moisture in the air.

3. Vacuum your mattress

Vacuum my mattress, really? Yes, you read that right! One might think that this is a myth, but it is strongly suggested to do it a few times a year, during seasonal changes

5.2 Tips for cleaning and maintaining your pillows How should I clean my pillows? How often should I wash them? What products should I choose to take care of my pillows and keep them clean and comfortable?

Here are our applicable tips to help you extend the life and comfort of the pillows you’ve carefully picked out.

Hint! Never ignore the importance of complying with the manufacturer's recommendations and read the labels.

1. How to maintain pillows made with synthetic fiber?

Pillows made of synthetic fiber are, for the vast majority, compatible with your washer and dryer. It is recommended to wash this type of pillows every two months. Just know that it is best to wash them in cold water (or in warm water if they contain spots) on a delicate cycle, and to dry them with the "fresh air" cycle of your dryer in order not to damage the padding.

You can sparingly use a mild detergent to wash your pillows but avoid using bleach at any cost.

2. How to wash the pillow feathers and down?

Feather pillows and comforters are more difficult to wash than the pillows made of synthetic fibers. Some labels recommend to do dry cleaning while others will tell you not to do anything at all.

32

THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO BUYING A MATTRESS

If the label says that your pillow can be machine washed, make sure you use a gentle or delicate cycle and wash your pillows in cold water with a few tennis balls which should keep the feathers in the right place. Then tumble dry or use the "fresh air" mode of your drier. Make sure that your pillows are completely dry or you may end up damaging its fabric. Cleaning frequency of these pillows is usually one to two times a year.

Here too, only use a mild detergent sparingly when washing such pillows and avoid bleach at all costs.

If the manufacturer strongly warns you not to wash and dry your pillows to the machine, then all you can do is to shake them every week to refresh and evenly distribute the feathers for added comfort. Airing out the room is also a best practice. By doing this, you will create a relaxing and enjoyable space that will maximize your well being, and that you will be looking forward to going back to at bedtime.

3. Where to buy pillows that are easy to maintain?

When buying pillows, choose a store that specializes in sleep products which where consultants with that specific expertise can advise you. You will then be able to ask all your questions and get the specific care instructions for each product you want to buy, thus making a purchase that will prove itself profitable and sustainable. Happy shopping and above all ... good night!

5.3 Five signs it’s time to change your pillows

What is the lifespan of a pillow? There are several factors that come into play, but it is estimated that the lifespan of a pillow is between 2 and 3 years. If you have any doubts about the quality of your pillows, let us guide you with these 5 signs that it's time to change your pillows!

Your pillow is “out of shape”

This is a clear sign that never fails! A pillow that no longer returns to its original shape and loses its softness or it’s fullness is a pillow that is no longer properly supporting your head during your sleep. You might have gotten used to it, but if you test several new pillows (in order to find the right one for you) in a specialty store, you will see (and feel) the difference for sure.

Your pillow is not the right size for you

How do you know if your pillow is the right size for you? You need to make sure that your forehead and chin are at the same height when your head is lying on the pillow. If this is not the case, it means that the size does not fit your head properly and therefore your pillow will not maintain your neck in a neutral position.

You wake up with aches and pains

Stiff neck? Shoulder pain? Back pain? It may well be that your pillow is the culprit! If you're aching rather than feeling refreshed and ready in the morning, then your body is trying to tell you something.

You have neglected the proper maintenance of your pillows

Do you take care of your pillows regularly by following the manufacturer's instructions to maintain their longevity? If you have neglected to do so, it may be time to refresh your pillows or get new ones!

You are having trouble finding a comfortable sleeping position

Do you tend to toss and turn in the evening and have difficulty finding a comfortable sleeping position to fall asleep? Your pillows might not be suitable for your sleeping posture. To remedy this, go and talk to a pillow consultant in a mattress or bedding store. You can tell them about your sleep habits, and they will direct you to the right pillow suit to your needs!

Remember that your pillows and mattress have a huge effect on the quality of your sleep!

5.4 How many time per week should bedding be changed? To fall asleep in fresh, clean sheets is such a pleasure! A few good reasons to change bedding on a regular basis are: comfort, hygiene and proper care of your mattresses. But how often should you change them?

Why Must We Change the Sheets Regularly?

A good part of our day is spent in bed. Our bodies sweat, and shed about a million skin cells every day. Add heavy nights sweats to the mix, and sheets get soiled and mattresses can suffer logterm damage. Even if your sheets look clean, they start to collect harmful bacteria after a week or two. Also, if you have pets that get up on the bed, they can deposit hairs, dust and dander. Remember that ordinary dust also accumulates over time. Thorough washing is a must!

How Often Should sheets be changed?

How often sheets get changed is a matter of preference. Some people prefer to change their bedding every two days, while others feel comfortable changing them every two weeks. As a general rule, treat yourself to fresh bedding weekly. Of course, if have night sweats or if you are ill, feel free to change them more frequently.
