GREETING

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration(BMA) is the local organization which is

directly responsible for city administration

and for looking after the well-being of

Bangkok residents. Presently, there are a

great number of foreigners living in

Bangkok according to the housing census

2010, there are 706,080 international

residents in Bangkok which is accounted

for 9.3% of all the Thai citizen in Bangkok.

Moreover, information from Foreign

Workers Administration Office shows that

there are 457,700 foreign migrant workers

in Bangkok. Thus, we are pleased to make

a Guidebook for International Residents in

Bangkok. This guidebook composes of

public services provided by the BMA. We

do hope that this guidebook will make

your life in Bangkok more convenient.

1. An alien who has been permitted to have residence in the Kingdom

and holds Residence Certificate or Alien Registration book

2. An alien who has been granted to have residency in the Kingdom

under special circumstances

3. Foreign nationals of Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia who enter the

Kingdom with work purposes and have work permit document.

*** An alien who has been permitted a temporary stay in the Kingdom,

he or she can also request to add his/her name and personal

information (register) into Civil Registration database if needed.

In case that you fall into a category 1 or 2 above, you can register by adding

your name and personal particulars into a House Registration book (Tabien

Baan).

In case that you fall into a category 3 above, you will be registered in a

Personnel Record for Non - Thai national (Tabien Pra wat).

Any Non - Thai national who falls into one of these categories

MUST register him/herself into Civil Registration database.

House Registration book (Tabien Baan)

means a registration of each house that

shows a house number and the list of all

residents living in a house. It is an

evidence of a person official residence.

*** House Registration book (Tabien

Baan) is not the proof for the house

ownership.

House Registration book (Tabien Baan) can

be issued by Provincial Administration

agencies, in Bangkok at District Office

(Samnak ngan khet) and in other provinces

at District Office (Amphur), Municipality

Office, or the City of Pattaya (depend on the

area you live).

60 days after registering him/herself in a House Registration

book (Tabien Baan), or a Personnel Record for Non - Thai

national (Tabien Prawat).

***For a person under the age of 5, the identification

document will be issued as a substitute document.

If you don't obtain the “Non-Thai ID card” by the due date,

a late fee will be applied.

*** The “Non-Thai ID card” must be renewed within

60 days in these following cases: card expiration, card loss,

card information disappears and change in card detail.
