PREPARING FOR ACE
32
• How do you know?
• Who ISN’T affected?– No PGA’s– Only 01, 03,11– My broker’s been filing in ACE for ages now
• Two-step review process…..
“This Won’t Affect Us, Right?”
33
• Most requirements are tied to what is shipping
• What do you already know?– HTS Number– PGA Codes needed today
• HTS Correlation process• When is HTS not enough?– “Conditional”
1.) Review of Item Database
34
• What are you telling the PGA’s today?• Audit of paperwork– Invoice, Packing List, BOL, PGA forms, Certificates, etc. etc.
– A lot of good information to mine• Parties, product details
2.) Review of Current State
35
Supplier Forwarder Broker
• Analyze the communication flow– Who knows what when and how?
• PGA Scope Creep?

• Now that you know what you need, how to get it?
• Item-specific data vs. transactional
• Item-level data– Product details, agency codes– Rules to update your item master– Templates by product type
Be a Data Hog
37
• Coordination across the supply chain is critical– Different parties know different things– Need to run like clockwork to avoid delays
• Customs Broker– Knows your compliance profile the best– Understands historical PGA/CBP conversations
– Look at system integration
Get Some of Those Entities to Help
