It is the father of probably the greatest inven- �ons of this world; the inven�on that brings news from every corner of the globe into your living room. The television was not invented by one person, the dream was said to be started by the ancient Greeks and then in Shakespeare’s Henry part Two it was said that people relied on for news due to their inability to see what was happing in the far corners of the kingdom. The reality took step in 1872 by Joseph May, Willoughby Smith then followed up with the phenomenon. Both of them discovered the Se- lenium’s photoconduc�ve proper�es and that was where the angling for fame took place. It was none other than television. Many things took place since then un�l 1930’s, TV commercially made available and Singapore started having it in the late 1960’s. And today, under the Media 21 plan Singapore was pushed by the government to be one of the key strate- gic media in Asia-Pacific region as of 2002. The inven�on of the television had dras�cally changes the way people lives. People today will just have to press the bu�on of their TV con- troller and they will be able to see the world. Yes, the world! It’s like the frog trap in the well could see what’s going on at the outside world without coming out the well. That is how TV had broken the geographical barriers. As people are watching the TV, it involves a transfer of informa�on that enriches the view- er’s store of knowledge. Therefore, in this case many people get affected by what they watch in both good and bad ways. In a survey did on 50 people age from 18-30, all 50 of them watch at least an hour of televi- sion each day and today more people are sub- scribing to the Cable TV where they have more choices than the current one that are offered through the na�onal TV. Your Best Friend Television provides viewers with entertainment, relaxa�on and escape; it is your ‘best friend’. ‘Travel and Living’ a channel that is offers on Cable TV gives us a whole new level of relax- a�on; travel, food and home are all you could get from it. With cooking show hos�ng by one of the greatest celebrity chief around, Jamie Oliver is probably one of the greatest together are individual host like ‘Take Home Chef’ Cur�s Stone etc. Cooking has never been so fun and cool a�er you’ve watch it. Other program such as ‘Travel does and don’t’, ‘World best travel places’, ‘Living Etc’, ‘Globe Trekker’ etc namely had provides viewers with the best enjoyment and great escape even without travelling out of the country.
