Shirpur is 50 km away from Dhule and

200 km from Indore (MP), Surat (Gujarat), Nasik and Aurangabad.

Buses frequently ply between Dhule and Shirpur. The nearest

railway stations are Jalgaon (MS), Bhusawal (MS), 120 km (Central

Railway) and Nandurbar (MS), 85 KM (Western Railway via Surat).

ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP

Education and Library are two inseparable entities, fundamentally co-existing with each other. With the advent of technology, the two have now come together on the click of a mouse. Social networking, web-blogs, e-resources and availability of tailored sources of information have further made users more aware about their requirement. Such demands are increasing day by day that librarians must satisfy in a cost effective manner. Efficient and effective use of emerging technology, especially open source and web resources, help librarians in planning and delivering such demanding services. In order to achieve this, a Library and Information Science (LIS) Professional needs to synergise technical and human skills, creativity and also problem solving abilities. This workshop will enable Library Professionals and staff from professional institutions and universities to learn these techniques - particularly the use of today's information management tools-from practitioners and seasoned experts who oversee and manage large libraries.

• Familiarize participants with the concepts of Web Technology based library services.

• Facilitate participants to acquire hands-on technical expertise to implement and manage Web Technology.

• Guide participants on selecting appropriate technology to be used for library services.

• Guide implementation of Library Blog, RSS, Websites, Podcasting services in a library.

• Additionally help to develop leadership and Team work skills to help librarians to fulfill their responsibilities

The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) (

Deemed to be University) established in 1981 has over 10,000

Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Computer Science, and

Business Management.

Shirpur is a tribal area of North Maharashtra adjoining Madhya

Pradesh and Gujarat. It is located near the Satpuda ranges on the

NH-3 (Mumbai-Dhule-Indore-Agra). It is a perfect example of a

model township developed by the leadership of Hon'ble Shri.

Amrishbhai Patel, MLA, Maharashtra who is also the President,

SVKM and Chancellor, SVKM's NMIMS. The city owns several pride

possession including the Balaji Temple, The Mukesh Patel

Recreation Garden, Textile industries, and the Shirpur Gold Refinery.
