6 Trends that’ll be "In" for 2017

• Decorating Your First Apartment? Start With 2017's Biggest Décor Trends

• While it seems like just yesterday we were celebrating the New Year, trend forecasters and designers are already thinking well into 2017

Terracotta

• Classic and warm, terracotta tile is making a huge splash in the decor world. It’s a perfect way to make an ordinary space Mediterranean-chic

• Avoid terracotta tiles that are too rustic and keeping with a matte finish; this trend could add character and warmth to interiors again.

Cork

• Remember last year when chalkboard walls were all the rage? Well, this year is all about walls covered with cork, It might sound a bit silly at first, but when you think about it, cork is perfect for accent walls where you can pin photos and artwork directly to the wall, and home offices for pinning notes and papers

• In congruence with the green living trend, 2017 is all about using more sustainable materials in the home. Cork walls are both visually interesting and functional .

Dark green

• Darker pieces of furniture are on the rise again – we will see plenty of richer and darker tones in 2017

• According to celebrity interior designer Martyn Lawrence-, who counts Kendall among his list of clients, green is “strong again.”

• Pantone recently announced their 2017 color of the Year and it’s clear that we’ll be seeing lots of green this coming year. Though Pantone’s shade, Greenery is a bit brighter and mossier in color, we also love the trend towards more rich, dark hunter greens. We think that darker hue will replace 2016’s fave, navy.

Upholstered bedheads

• Beds will change dramatically in 2017, with upholstered

bed heads set to replace the timber bed frames currently dominating the market.

• Whether you opt for the classic model in neutral colour with buttons, or a plush one in velvet, a bedhead is an easy way to update and add instant glamour to a bedroom and they’ve been a staple in luxury hotel bedrooms and celebrity homes for a while.

Jewel tones

• While pastel shades of pink and blue are currently having their day in the sun, they will soon be overtaken by jewel tones inspired by metals, space, stars, clouds and the cosmos.

• When it comes to velvet in 2017, it’s all vibrant jewel tones like emerald, ruby, amethyst and sapphire. This look is surprisingly versatile, adding a dose of glamour to more minimalist spaces and a textural counterpoint to more organic ones.

Escapism

• 2017 is the year where we start to move

offline, reading books and relaxed

furniture will be one of the interior must

haves for next year.

• Homes with nooks and places to retrieve

will become more popular as humans

react to our increasingly technological

lives.

• We will seek to create havens of calm

and tranquility, whether it’s a bedroom

or a nook we can escape to.
