I AM

I was regretting the past and fearing the future.Suddenly, my Lord was speaking:

My name is I AM.

He paused. I waited. He continued. When you live in the past with its mistakes and regrets, it is hard.

I am not there. My name is not I WAS.

When you live in the future, with its problems and fears, it is hard.I am not there.

My name is not I WILL BE.

When you live in this moment, it is not hard.I AM HERE.

My name is I AM.

WHEN GOD SAYS NO

I asked God to take away my pain.God said: No. It is not for me to takeaway, but for you to give it up.

I asked God to make my handicapped childwhole.

God said: No. Her spirit was whole, herbody was only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience.God said: No. Patience is a byproduct oftribulations; it isn’t granted, it is earned.

I asked God to give me happiness.God said: No. I give you blessings. Happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain.God said: No. Suffering draws you apart from worldlycares and brings you closer to me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow.God said: No. You must grow on your own, but I will pruneyou to make you grow.

I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life.God said: No. I will give you life so that you may enjoy allthings.

I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as he loves me.God said.....Ahhhh, finally you have the idea!

A PRAYER FOR NURSING HOMES,RETIREMENT HOMES, SHUT-INS

Dear Lord:We love to gather together as a congregation. It is within this

community that we find friendship, assistance, encouragement andunderstanding. We love to be able to worship You with our brothersand sisters of faith.

There are those who cannot attend our church services andgatherings – those that are shut-in at home, in nursing homes andretirement homes. They cannot feel the support and love that we,who can attend services and gatherings, can feel. We have to bringthat support and love to them where they are.

We read in James 1:27 that “Religion that God our Fatheraccepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans andwidows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted bythe world.” Help us also to remember that in as much as we haveseen the sick and visited them, we have done it unto you. (Matthew25: 34-46)

Grant us the grace and power needed to share Your love tothose in these circumstances. Empower our pastors by Your HolySpirit, as they visit, perform services and administer communion tothose who are unable to attend church.
