Fig. 3. The primary outcome of the intervention trial was mean daily weight gain. There was no statistically significant difference between the two products.

KEY MESSAGES
A locally produced fish-based ready-to-use therapeutic food is as effective as an imported milk-based product.
Small dried fish is a good alternative to replace milk powder.
Cambodia needs an integrated moderate -and severe acute malnutrition approach.
To prevent stunting, a longer intervention is needed.
Understanding Consumption
Patterns of Fish in Benin • Did you know that increased knowledge in what to eat,
by itself, does not lead to improved Nutritional outcomes?• CARE is implementing the Nutrition at the Center
Program in 4 countries to improve nutritional outcomes for women and children. To increase consumption of animal source foods, the program supported 885 women in 2 communes in Benin to engage in fish farming. • After 1 year, a study to assess consumption patterns
showed that the number of households consuming fish had increased by 83% since baseline.
