Introducing Father Collins Anaeche
Page 3
Reverend Collins I. Anaeche is a Roman Catholic priest of the Archdiocese of Hartford Connecticut. He was originally born in Nigeria before he moved to the United States. He is one of eight children (six boys and two girls). Fr. Collins grew up in a working class family and enjoys a close relationship with his parents and siblings. After high school he felt the call to the priesthood. His interest in doing missionary work led him to join the St. Joseph’s Society of Sa-cred Heart popularly known as "The Josephites". He did his undergraduate studies in Philosophy and Humanities at the National Missionary Semi-nary of St. Paul, Abuja – Nigeria, an affiliate insti-tution of Pontifical Urban University Rome. In August 2003, Fr. Collins started his graduate studies in theology at Pontifical Faculty of the Im-maculate Conception of Dominican House of Studies in Washington D.C. Transferring to the Archdiocese of Hartford; he continued his studies and formation to the priesthood at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary and University, Emmitsburg, Maryland. He graduated in May 2008 with two graduate degrees in theology, namely, Masters in Divinity (M.Div) and Graduate Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology (S.T.B).
Fr. Collins was ordained a priest at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford on May 17, 2008. Following his ordination to the priesthood, he served at the Cathedral of St. Joseph for a little over three years before he was sent to serve for a short period at Sacred Heart parish in Southbury. In January 2012,
Fr. Collins became the administrator of Sacred Heart Parish Bloomfield where he served for an-other three and half years. Again in July 2015 he was named the administrator of St. Bernard’s Par-ish in Tariffville (Simsbury) from where he came to Our Lady of Victory West Haven. Through his pastoral experiences and ministries with people facing different physical, relational, spiritual, emotional or psychological challenges, Fr. Collins discovered that he needed more spe-cialized training in counseling and psychotherapy. In Fall 2010, he enrolled in the Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy degree program at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain and graduated in May 2014. Besides his pastoral services at different parishes, Fr. Collins has also worked with Catholic Charities Family Service Center, New Britain and Francis-can Life Center, Meriden in providing spiritual direction, psychotherapy and counseling services for individuals, couples, families, and groups from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. At the core of his life and ministry Fr. Collins be-lieves that "it is the love of God and witnessing to the truth of that love that make the difference"

Be an Angel! The OLOV school community cultivates an environment that is welcoming to all families, and committed to the academic, so-cial, and spiritual growth of its students. Unfortunately, for some families, the cost of a Catholic
education is out of reach. In response, the school has established the Guardian Angel Fund to provide help for parents who desire a faith-based education for their children, but cannot afford full tuition. This fund allows the school to cover the difference be-tween what a family is able to pay and the tuition due. Please prayerfully consider helping a child at-tend OLOV by being an angel. Any donation large or
small is greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!

Archdiocesan Survey for Young People
“By listening to young people, The Church will once again hear the Lord speaking in to-day’s world.” The Archdiocese of Hartford is requesting that all parishes and schools encourage their young people (ages 16-29) to fill out the Archdiocesan Survey for Young People:
https://oeec.typeform.com/to/qPt9f0 Many dioceses throughout the world are pre-
paring for the 2018 Synod of Bishops and this survey will help the Archdiocese of Hart-ford for that Synod. More importantly, this
survey will be beneficial for the Archdiocese, as it strives to hear and respond to the voice of our youth and young adults, who will have
the chance to express their thoughts and concerns about their faith and values.
Please help us by sharing the link to the sur-vey with all your young people. Our goal is to reach as many young people in the Arch-diocese as possible, so feel free to forward
this email widely. Survey deadline is Friday July 21, 2017
