EMC... Polycom exhibits video collaboration toolsa lot of plans that people might see as overly ambitious. I’ve learned, however, that living in Dubai, anything is possible – when there is a will there is a way,” he says.

Indeed, Awienat and EMC are both looking to the future. “I believe that Big Data will be a trend to leverage in the future. Not only can we look at our own data, but we need to begin to look at all the public, unstructured data that is out there.” Awienat points out that an estimated 90 percent of data is unstructured and needs to be analysed for value.

As to whether or not EMC will be returning to Gitex next year, Awienat is confident – “You will always see an EMC presence at Gitex. We are sitting in the front seat of technology and this is where we need to be.”

Polycom is showcasing its latest portfolio of video and voice collaboration solutions along with live demonstrations of its RealPresence Immersive Studio at the 34th edition of GITEX Technology Week.

Polycom is exhibiting in partnership with its regional distributor FVC.

“Technology is becoming an omnipresent part of our lives in the UAE and this has given rise to a

generation of ‘always-connected’ technology natives,” Ramy Alam, Regional Sales Director, Gulf, Polycom, says. “Flexible working provides the opportunity for employees to find a work-life balance that fits their day-to-day routine. In line with this trend. GITEX serves as the best platform to demonstrate our strengths in open, standards-based voice, video and content collaboration solutions.

These solutions are engineered to create a dynamic collaborative workplace, which can cater to the needs of changing business environments. It also gives Polycom the opportunity to connect with the best minds within the ICT industry in the region and we look forward to another successful year at this event,” he adds.

Polycom is also demonstrating its RealPresence Utility Cart and RealPresence EduCart video collaboration tools as well as its Eagle Eye Director tool which emulates video production techniques in group meetings.

Visitors and participants can visit the Polycom stand at Zabeel Hall Booth: Z – G12, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 12-16 October 2014.

“GITEX is an important indicator of the health of ICT sector regionally. The distributor is also preparing a whole series of solutions and enablement packages to help partners become more profitable and increase their skill set. “We are ensuring that they can deliver in new areas. The industry is changing and we have the capability to enable our partners in these new areas.”

Xilopix launches E-commerce solutionXilopix is launching its search & navigation engine Xilopix for E-Commerce for the MEASA region at GITEX Technology Week 2014.

Built on Xilopix Search Engine’s technology, Xilopix for E-Commerce allows type-free and visual searching.

The solution is designed with an alphabet independent mindset, meaning it is adapted to answer queries written in Arabic.

In order to support the its push in the MEASA region, Xilopix has extended its presence in Dubai with a local partner and an Arabic version of its website, which was launched

31st August.“Xilopix for E-Commerce allows

users to find what they need, by combining product pictures,

and refining results to the infinite, even without using any keywords,” said Eric Mathieu, CEO and co-founder, Xilopix.

“Visual research liberates users from language barriers, and take its dimension in an international context, where there are various alphabets such as Arabic and Mandarin. Contrary to the most start-ups who are investing in the West of the US, we have decided to turn our vision to the East, and that’s why we chose the Middle East and Asia. For us, exhibiting at Gitex is an easy choice, in line with our global strategy. It is also a personal choice, because most of our employees are Arabic speakers.”

Founded in 2008, Xilopix specialises in search engines and semantic technologies.
