Nutrition Month Celebration
As a sign of giving importance to the health and physical well being of people,
The University of La Salette College Inc. had their annual celebration of the Nutrition
Month last July 28, 2012 which was held within the campus. The sponsoring college wasthe College of Nursing. The event offered different activities and programs relative to the
celebration which was offered to all students of the University. The theme for the
celebration of Nutrition Month 2012 is Pagkain ng gulay ugaliin, araw-araw itong
ihain. Every college sent representatives in all the events for the celebration. The
participants showcased their talents, abilities, creativity and competitiveness in the
different activities prepared by the organizers. Supports were also evidenced by the
different colleges through the voluminous number of students who watched and cheered
for their respective college representatives
The celebration started with a dance exercise followed by a doxology and opening
remarks hosted by the College of Nursing at the new gymnasium. Preparations were
done, as the contest proper for the Cook fest, Dance Jingle Competition, and Photography
Contest were conducted simultaneously around the school. Contests were given
guidelines to follow which were distributed days before the said event. For the Cook Fest,
an eggplant was chosen to be their main ingredient. Creativity was shown in the different
strategies of exploring the main ingredient. Artistic abilities were also spotted as they
designed their respective tables and chairs. On the other hand, participant for
photography contest were given right to choose their subject. Echoes roared thegymnasium while the jingle completion was being done. The celebration resumed in the
afternoon around one oclock for the Dodge ball Tournament which was started with a
demonstration game from the organizers. The representative of our college in the
Photography Contest was Miss Lovelee Ramel; Jefereson Codina, Meriza Rivera, and
Lea Dela Cruz joined the Cook fest using eggplant as their main dish; selected first year
students for the Jingle Competition; and Lindon Ong, Nikko Bayyang, Jay Dela Pena,
Lee Ann Galapon, Crizza Bangate and Lizette Sumawang participated in the Dodge Ball
Competition.
After the Dodge Ball games, the results were announced and awarded to the
participants who gained the highest points. Despite of some problems like the delay of
time scheduled, still, the program pushed through and was successfully ended because of
the preparation of the organizers and the participation of the different colleges. The
nutrition month celebration ended while leaving the message of importance of good
health and good life style to everyone.
