Age RequirementAll applicants for classes must be at least 16 years old for ALOA members and 18 years old for non-members. Persons under age 16 may be permitted to attend class only if approved by the education manager and the instructor.

REGISTRATION POLICIES

Online RegistrationOnline registration is available for the ALOA Convention. Go to www.ALOA.org and click on the ALOA Convention tab.

Cancellation of ClassesALOA reserves the right to cancel any class that does not meet a minimum of registrants. Classes may not be attended without registration.

ALOA Member DiscountsTo qualify for the ALOA member discounted registration fee, current membership dues must be paid, and you must have a valid ALOA membership number.

New MembershipAll applicants for ALOA membership may use the ALOA member discount-ed registration fee if their applica-tion is received at or before time of registration with full payment and a membership number assigned. New member applications will be accepted on site at the convention, but mem-bership rights or privileges will not be awarded until after applications are completely processed.

Complete All FormsAll forms must be filled out completely and legibly. Please print or type all information.

If the forms are not legible, there may be a considerable delay in processing your registration. Be sure to list: ALOA membership number, if you

are a member Complete address on all forms Phone number, including area code Email addressYou must complete the appropriate

sections of the registration form in or-der to register for classes. Please be sure you have filled this information out completely, including your alter-nate choices.

PaymentAll payments to ALOA must be in U.S. funds. Payments may be made

by check, money order or charged to your MasterCard, VISA, American Express or Discover Card. Any charge received with an invalid card number or an amount over the credit limit will result in a delay in processing the registration. Upon receiving a check returned to ALOA for insufficient funds, registration will automatically be cancelled and will not be reinstated until a money order or cashier’s check is received as replacement. This may result in the loss of original regis-tration choices. There will be a $40 service charge on all returned checks. ALL PRE-REGISTRATIONS MUST BE PRE-PAID.

Government/Institutional PaymentGovernment/institutional purchase orders are acceptable. However, for any classes for which a government/ institutional purchase order is submit-ted, the applicant must provide a $50 deposit at the time of registration. This amount will be refunded to the

individual if cancellation is received by June 16, 2017. or

If the individual attends classes covered on the government/institu-tional purchase order, the amount of $50 is not refundable if the indi-vidual cancels his/her registration after June 16.

Admittance to the Security EXPOIncludes admission to both days of the ALOA 2017 Security Expo.

Free for children under five years old. The fee for children ages 6-15 to the Security Expo is $5 before June 16 or $10 after June 16. An adult must accompa-ny anyone under the age of 16.

EDUCATIONAL INFO

CertificatesPre-registered participants will receive certificates of completion for full-day classes only. The certificate will contain information provided on the registration form. Participants registering on site or making class changes will receive certificates via mail.

Tools NeededBe sure to read the class description for the tools and materials students need for each class. Lab fees apply to certain classes.

Proficiency Registration ProgramThe Proficiency Registration Program Evaluation will be given from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18. Pre-registration is required for the evaluation. June 16, 2017 is the deadline for receipt of PRP registration. Due to time constraints in developing the test packets, no exceptions will be made for late requests. The ALOA PRP evaluation will be held for four levels of locksmith

certifications: CAL (Certified Automotive Locksmith) CRL (Certified Registered Locksmith) CPL (Certified Professional Lock-

smith) CML (Certified Master Locksmith).The SafeTech STPRP evaluation will

The student will learn how to conduct a crime scene search and document the scene. Physical evidence preservation and handling are covered in depth, along with chain-of-custody principles. Specialized tools of the trade will be reviewed extensively. Through hands-on instruction, stu-dents will learn how to examine locks, pins and wafers to identify tool marks made by various bypass tools. How to properly document your findings using digital photography and pro-fessional report writing will also be covered. Tips to help market your expertise including how to write curriculum vitae (CV) and how to qualify as an expert witness are covered, as well as guidelines on working effectively with law enforcement and insurance investi-

gators. A discussion of proper deposition and courtroom decorum is discussed in depth. From nomenclature to design and from tolerances to techniques, students will leave having opened a Group 2 combination lock via manipulation. Alarm systems provide something locks can’t: a link to the outside world if the

first layer of security — the locks — are breached; just their presence in the building has proven to be a deterrent to break-ins, and when they don’t deter, the reported losses are generally much lower. Understanding how they operate, what peripheral equipment is needed and how they’re installed is important for both the installer and locksmith who wants a system installed in his own shop or home. If you need help passing the PRP elective L-42 for Alarms, this class will provide that knowledge. Students in this lecture class will learn about hardwired and wireless controls, how they operate and how to pro-gram an alarm control, including reporting to a central station. In addition, students will learn the best types of sensors for dif-ferent applications and how to wire them into the panel. Prerequisite: All students must have a basic knowledge of electricity. This hands-on class covers the principles and techniques applying to most large format interchangeable cores (LFICs), including Yale, Corbin Russwin, Medeco, Schlage, Sargent, Kaba, BiLock and ASSA, including construction and operation as shown by exploded views and sample cores. Class exercises include hands-on disassembling/reassembling cores, calculating pin stacks, addressing rules for selecting TMKs and control keys, manufac-turer-specific rules for master key systems, hotel function cores and decoding and pinning select cores from a variety of manufacturers. Students will also receive technical handouts (including obsolete core data) and manufac-turer-specific information, useful in servicing LFICs along with a variety of troubleshooting techniques. Prerequisite: The student must have a solid understanding of basic master keying progression and have experience com-binating conventional master keyed cylinders (Basic: pinning of a cylinder from a TMK and CK bittings required).

412: M3/X4: Medeco Factory Certification

Students will learn the design and opera-tion of Medeco technologies, cylinders, inter-changeable cores, cam locks and other Me-deco specialty cylinders. Hands-on exercises will be used to disassemble and reassemble a cylinder, decode keys, write pinning sheets, pin cylinders, and fully combinate an x4 SFIC. General Medeco master key principles, ser-vicing techniques and tools, key cutting, and an overview of Medeco’s full product line and key control solutions will be covered.

Time will be available at the conclusion of the class to take the factory certification exams to become Medeco officially factory certified in both technologies.

413: Modern Auto Key Generation

Evaluation ALOA 2017 Convention:Level testing for: CAL CRL CPL CML CPS CMST CLL

In the listings at right, place a check mark to the left of your choices. Below are descriptions of each level and its requirements.

CAL Level: CAL (A-00) Because of time required this cannot be taken with any other selection.

CRL Level: L-00 + two (2) Electives. Choose the mandatory and two (2) Electives.

CPL Level: CRL + twelve (12) Electives. If you pass the CRL, choose any twelve (12) Electives. Do not choose any Electives you have previously passed.

CML Level: CPL + nine (9) Electives. Choose any nine (9) Electives. Do not choose any Electives passed previously for CRL or CPL.

Re-Take CRL Level: If you did not pass the mandatory, you must choose the mandatory. You may also take one (1) or two (2) Electives if you did not pass one (1) or two (2) Electives, but you may not take extras.

CPS Level (S-00): Because of the time required this cannot be taken with any other selection.

CMST Level (S-01): The first level (S-00) of the STPRP (CPS) must be passed before taking the second level (S-01) of the STPRP. Because of the time required this cannot be taken with any other selection.
