2016 Esperance Show Schedule — 9
President’s Message2015/16 has been an emotionally tough year due to the fires which have devastated parts of our shire. However, the start of the growing season in 2016 has been a positive one and we look forward to it continuing in that vein. The Esperance and Districts Agricultural Society Committee would like to thank the Esperance Community for attending last year’s show and making it such a success. We had a good attendance and our trade and exhibits were up on previous years. We hope the weather will be as kind this year as it was in 2015.We would like to publically thank our major sponsors and trophy donors for their continued support. Without these companies and people, there wouldn’t be as much free entertainment as there is, or as many prizes in each category in the Exhibit hall.As with the previous two years, Healthway is a major sponsor which will make the grounds of the show a smoke free zone. We have had positive feedback from the public, knowing our event is smoke free and we look forward to your help in keeping it this way, again this year.We are very excited to announce that Anne Carey will be opening the show. Anne is well known for her work with Ebola in the African country of Sierra Leone. She was also awarded the Western Australian Citizen of the year in 2016 for this work.In the stellar line up of entertainment, Sabrina Hahn will be our Guru Gardener and My Kitchen Rules contestants from Western Australia, Eva and Debra our Celebrity Chefs. We encourage you to come along and make use of Sabrina’s knowledge and taste the food that Eva and Debra prepare. As usual these events will be held in the Horizon Power Cooking and Gardening Marquee and are free. Also included in the free Cliffs Children’s Entertainment Marquee, Bubble Muffin will be returning! They were a huge hit last year, making healthy and delicious food, including the children in their activities. Black String Puppets are a new performance aimed at all ages, not just the children, so make sure you pop your head in for a look.In keeping with our dedication to the agricultural industry, there will be displays of cattle, sheep, alpacas and poultry. The machinery exhibits are always popular. As with any year, we encourage you all to look through the schedule and see if there is a category that suits you to enter in. Whether it be from art to wool, we love to have your entries, as this is what makes a show.We look forward to seeing you at this year’s show.—Ewin Stewart
