67 seconds go by quickly. It’s just barely enough time to return an email or make a cup of coffee.

And yet every 67 seconds…someone in the U.S. has developed Alzheimer’s.

Even more surprising is that it is affecting people in their early 30’s!

Chances are great that a member of your family or someone you know is dealing with Alzheimer’s.

It’s the 6th leading cause of death in America, and more than five million Americans are living

with Alzheimer’s today, including 72,000 people in Connecticut. The disease robs people of their

memories but worse yet, their identity. As one individual with Alzheimer’s shared, “I was me and now I am no one anymore.” They continued, “I feel like I am having a heart attack in my brain.”

The Alzheimer’s Association is often referred to as a “lifeline” during a very scary, frustrating and

confusing time. In addition to being the third largest funder of research in the world after the NIH

and the republic of China, the Association provides resources associated to Alzheimer’s and related

diseases through:

In recent years awareness of the Association has grown tremendously, but we need to continue our

mission and be sure that people in need know we are here for them. Won’t you help us spread the

word and spread the comfort?

The Alzheimer’s Association is a not-for-profit, completely donor supported organization serving

the needs of families and health care professionals. We need the support from individuals like you.

And in the time it took you to read this, another person in the U.S. developed Alzheimer’s. Please

consider your participation to make a real difference in the lives of people with Alzheimer’s, their

caregivers, families and our future quality of life.

Celebrating Hope began in

2013 with seven courageous

Greenwich area women.

As caregivers and family

members, each has confronted

the overwhelming obstacles

and anguish of managing

Alzheimer’s Disease with

mothers, fathers or a spouse.

For those diagnosed with

Alzheimer’s Disease, there

is no cure. But that does

not mean there cannot be

survivors. These women came

together joined by a hope

that they could indeed make

a difference. Their goal was

to create an event in Greenwich to raise awareness

and funds for their cause. With the enthusiasm of

Eleonora Tornatore-Mikesh and Lexi Rodriguez from

the Alzheimer’s Association, they forged ahead to

found Celebrating Hope. Their mission was simple

“Work towards a World Without Alzheimer’s.”

In that inaugural year the group raised more than

$100,000 in two-and-half hours. The support was

overwhelming. Now approaching its third year,

Celebrating Hope boasts more

than 70 committee members,

has raised $250,000+ and is

well on its way to becoming a

major benefit in Greenwich.

Celebrating Hope has

morphed from a “one night

event” to a “community movement.” Supporters like

Richards paint their windows

purple, and the trees that line

Greenwich avenue are dressed

with purple ribbons that share

a key fact about the disease

and highlight our sponsors.

At the event itself there is

an undeniable spirit of hope

that takes over. The night confirms that anything is

possible. Sponsors arrive early to attend our exclusive

VIP party, and friends, family, colleagues and

acquaintances come together to enjoy music, magic

tricks, food, cocktails and an extensive silent auction.

Last year, keynote speakers actress Kimberly Williams

Paisley and her father Gurney Williams shared their

emotional journey of caring for their mother and wife.

Please join u s for another unforgettable experience.
