    This document lists the information and supporting documents required to lodge your paperapplication. It also lists additional documents that you may need to provide depending onyour individual circumstances.

    Complete applicationsYou should ensure that you lodge a completed visa application. While the department mayask you to provide more information in order to determine whether you meet the criteria forgrant of the visa, a decision on the visa application may be made solely on the informationprovided at the time of application.

    Note: The Visa Application Charge will not be refunded if a decision is made to refuse togrant the visa because the applicant did not satisfy the criteria for grant of the visa.

    Children travelling to Australia for tourist reasons

    If a child under 18 years is coming to Australia without one or both parents or legalguardians, a consent form signed by the non-accompanying parent or legal guardian.

    Evidence must be provided to confirm family relationship. For example, certifiedcopies of birth certificates, showing names of both parents, for all persons included inthe application.See:Form 1229Consent form to grant an Australian visa to a child under the age of18 years

    Children staying or studying in Australia

    If a child under 18 years is staying in Australia with someone other than a parent,

    legal guardian or relative, a declaration signed by the person responsible for that childin Australia.See:Form 1257Undertaking declaration

    Personal documents

    Your passport.

    Certified copies of birth certificates, showing names of both parents, for all personsincluded in the application.

    A recent passport sized photograph (45mmx35mm), no more than six months old, of

    you and any children included in your passport and travelling with you. These should be of the head and shoulders only against a plain background. Print the name of the person on the back of each photograph.

    Important: The department is not obliged to contact you for additional informationbefore making a decision on your application. It is therefore in your best interest tosubmit the following documents with your application.

    required to show evidence of cover for the first 12 months but you will be required tohold cover for any subsequent visits on that visa.

    Financial documents

    Evidence of sufficient funds (personal bank statements, pay slips, audited accounts,taxation records or credit card limit).

    Other documents

    Details of how you want your passport returned (if by post, include a passport sizedenvelope with your address and sufficient postage).

    If you are employed, confirmation from your employer of your employment status(your income and period of employment) and the period of approved leave.

    Evidence of enrolment at school, college or university.

    If visiting relatives or friends, a letter of invitation from your relative or friend inAustralia. If your relative or friend is paying for your visit, evidence that they have thenecessary funds.

    Other information to show that you have an incentive and authority to return to yourhome country.
