Dear Participant,

On behalf of the Members and staff at Quail Valley Golf Club we would like to welcome and

congratulate you on qualifying for this year’s Florida State Open. We are certainly excited and

feel privileged to be hosting, with Orchid Island, this year’s prestigious event. We hope you will

find both golf courses to be challenging and enjoyable.

In hosting this event we did want to insure that all competitors were familiar with a couple of

polices which Quail Valley has in place which we would ask that all players follow:

1) Cell phones use is prohibited in all areas at Golf Club with the exception of the

Men’s Locker Room and porch.

2) Quail Valley does not permit Cargo Pants/Shorts

3) Quail Valley requires all players to wear collared or mock turtle neck golf shirts.

4) Pull carts are not permitted at Quail Valley

We thank you in advance for your adherence to these policies.

Upon arriving at Quail Valley you will be provided with a guest tag that we would ask all players

to please place on their bag. This will aid our staff in storing clubs and getting players set for play

each morning. Additionally, lockers will be assigned and are for your use all week. Locker

assignments will be available upon your arrival.

In closing, please feel free to contact me or any member of my staff with any needs that you may

have prior to or during championship week. Once again, congratulations on you’re qualifying up

to this point and best of luck to each of you this week.

time at each facility.

Please take time to carefully read through this packet of information. There are several important items

contained here, some of which require action by you by a certain time (e.g. hotel reservations, pre-registration,

Championship Format

Championship (54 Holes) - The Championship field of 156 players will be split for rounds 1 & 2 between

the two championship courses. Over the first two rounds, each player will play one round at each

course. After two rounds, the field will be cut to the low 60 players and ties with the final round being

conducted at Quail Valley Golf Club.

The lowest score for 54 holes will be the Champion. If necessary, there will be a three hole aggregate score

play-off on holes 16, 17 & 18, for the Championship. If the play-off results in a tie, play will immediately

continue, hole by hole on holes 18, 10, 8 & 9. It is the player’s responsibility to be present for any playoff.

In order to accommodate 156 players, it is essential that the game be played at a brisk pace and the stated

pace of play for each course will be posted on the Notice to Players.

The FSGA uses a checkpoint pace of play system at all competitions that it conducts in the state of Florida.

There are NO Warnings to the players and players are not timed. Each group must complete each nine

within the stated time or within 15 minutes of the group ahead or each player in the group will be subject to a

one stroke penalty (two strokes for a second breach). This pace of play policy places the full responsibility

for pace of play on the players. FSGA Pace of Play Policy.

Page 6: 67th Florida Open Championship Player Information

The FSGA pace of play policy utilizes a two checkpoint system.

Players will not receive warnings.

Players are not timed

Each group is responsible for monitoring their own pace.

To avoid penalty, groups must complete each checkpoint hole:

Within 15 minutes of the group ahead, or

Under the allotted time.

Checkpoints at each course will be on holes #9 and #18.

All players in a group in breach are subject to penalty.

Position with Group Ahead – To stay within 15 minutes of the group ahead, players should never have an

open hole and they should be in the fairway on par 4’s and 5’s when the group ahead leaves the green.

Purse Pay Out

The purse and payout will be announced at the site during registration on Thursday. The golf professional

purse will be mailed to the professional’s address on file from their entry by the Wednesday following the

Championship. The amateurs in the field will receive gift certificates immediately after all of the scores are

accepted.

Registration

There will be a registration table set up in the main clubhouse to pick up your Florida

Open Shirt, hat, and player badge and player information the day before the

Championship at the Quail Valley Golf Club only from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. This is
