Schoology is a Learning Management System (LMS).

Creating a Parent AccountParents need to create a Schoology Parent account in order to view what a student can see in Schoology.

Parent Access Code - acquire from your school’s secretary● Needed to create the account. ● Gives you access to that child’s information in Schoology.● Needed for each child so that you can add them to your account.● Can be used to create multiple parent accounts.

Parent Accounts vs. Student AccountsParent Accounts
● Need parent access code to create account
● Go to Schoology.com to create account or log in
● “View Only” access - can see everything your child sees but no interaction buttons available.
Student Accounts
● Created by the district for every student and is tied to their Google account
● Students log into Google account first, then go to dublin.schoology.com
● Students have full access to interact with the program.

What is Blocksi?
● Blocksi is a cloud based Chromebook internet filtering and trend analysis solution that is installed on every district-provided student Chromebook.
● Teachers use Blocksi to monitor students on their Chromebooks while at school.

BlocksiBlocksi provides the following benefits:
● Filters most inappropriate websites and web content at school AND when the device is taken home.
● Allows teachers to only allow certain websites to be accessed for a lesson.● Teachers can monitor all student devices from one screen in real-time and
even lock devices as necessary.● Teachers can instant message with students through Blocksi to support
and/or redirect them.● Parent access information will be emailed to you at the email address(es) on
file with the district.

● Any parent email that is on file with the district can automatically set up an account.
● If you have a change to your email, you can request access to Blocksi with that new-to-us email address, but it will need to be verified by DCS staff before you can begin to monitor using Blocksi.

Setting Up Your Parent Schoology Account

Home Screen (computer) - Parent View
When you first log in, your name will appear in the top right area of the menu.
This is the home screen for you, the parent.
You won’t see much information in the Recent Activity or Calendar area because this is the Parent View of the Home screen.
Click on the arrow to the right of your name to access more information.

Here you will see your child’s name associated with the code you used to create your account.
If you have another child to add, click the Add Child.You will need the parent access code for this child also.

If you only have one child in your account, click on the triangle to the right of your name and click on the student’s name. First Child

When you are on the Home Screen from the Student View, you will see a Summary of All student activity for that student.

● Course information that the teacher has posted

Click on any one of the courses to see the grades for that course.
Notice the Y (yearly average) grade and the YQ1, YQ2, YQ3, YQ4 grades (individual quarters for the yearly course).
Assignments are put into different categories based on the type of assignment. The categories are sometimes weighted (shown in parentheses).
Some categories are weighted a 0 because they are used to give teachers information on how the students are doing with a concept which helps them to guide their instruction. These assignments don’t get averaged into the final grade.

Calendar includes assignments and/or other class information in a Calendar view.

Courses gives you access to each of your child’s individual courses.
Select one to view the Updates, Assignments and Grades associated with that particular course.

Course Materials is where the teachers share and store academic information for students.
Assignments can also be found in this area.

Grades (within a course) is where you can see the assignments and grades for that particular course.
Teachers may also add a comment to an assignment and those comments show in this area also.

Student Name
Groups give you access to each of the groups of which your child is a member.
Groups are places where students can collaborate and share information. They are great for after-school clubs and organizations.

Messages Notifications
Numbers alert you to pending information.

This is another area where you can see and send messages. The envelope icon shows whether you are in Student View or Parent View.
Click New Message to send a message from here.
Click See All to access the main Message area.

When you receive a message, you will see a number by the envelope.
When you click on the envelope, you will see current messages. Click the message to open it and reply.

Shows only when in Parent View.
From the people icon, you can see requests to join groups and also connection requests. Click Accept to accept the request and X to reject the request.
As a Parent, you will probably not be using this area.

The beacon allows you to quickly see all current Notifications.
Can click to See All Notifications.

Translation Feature
If you scroll all the way to the bottom of the Schoology window, you will find the word English.
If you click on English, you will find that Schoology can be translated into 6 different languages.
