6.5 Labour requirement:

One skilled operator is needed to operate the tractor and the implement simultaneously.

6.6 Service and Maintenance:

Requires checking & tightening of all the nuts & bolts of the implement especially the

tyne and shovel bolts needs to be tightened frequently. The trash and soil wrapped on

the shovels needs to be removed after the day’s operation.

6.7 Ease Of Operation And Adjustments:

The operator can easily adjust and control the implement from operator’s seat in the field as the adjustments are within the easy reach of operator.

7 DEFECTS, BREAKDOWNS AND REPAIRS

No breakdown was occurred during 25.2 h of field test.

8 SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS, COMMENTS

AND RECOMMENDATIONS

8.1 The dimensions of tynes does not conform with IS: 7565 (Pt-I)-1975 (Reaffirmed in 2004)

& should be looked into.

8.2 The specification of implement hitch pyramid does not conform to the IS: 4468 (Pt-I)-1997

(Reaffirmed in 2001). It is recommended that the same should be provided conforming to

the relevant IS.

8.3 The rate of work was recorded as 0.713 to 0.806 ha/h at forward speed of 4.33 to 4.58 kmph

which is considered normal.

8.4 The depth of operation was recorded as 15 to 17 cm in the soil having 11.4 to 13.6 % of

average moisture, which is considered normal for secondary tillage operations.

8.5 The size of prime-mover (tractor) as used for the test was found adequate. No over loading

of prime mover engine was noticed during the entire test.

8.6 The mast height of the implement should be as per IS: 4468 (Pt.1)-1997 (Reaffirmed in

2001) to obtain the positive weight transfer and to utilize proper sensitivity of hydraulic

system of the tractor. This should be modified accordingly.

8.7 The hourly rate of wear of the shovel on mass and dimensional basis was recorded as 0.32

to 0.72 & 0.36 to 1.51 % respectively.
