Description of the appliance

Disposal notesThe appliance contains reusable materials and should be disposed of properly - not simply with unsorted household refuse. Appliances which are no longer needed must be disposed of in a professional and appropriate way, in accordance with the current local regulations and laws. Safety instructions and warnings•Topreventinjuryordamagetotheunit,theap-

pliance should be unpacked and set up by two people.•In theevent that theappliance isdamagedon

delivery, contact the supplier immediately before connecting to the mains.•Toguaranteesafeoperation,ensurethattheap-

pliance is set up and connected as described in these operating instructions.•Disconnecttheappliancefromthemainsifanyfaultoccurs.Pullouttheplug,switchofforremovethe fuse.•Whendisconnecting theappliance,pullon the

plug, not on the cable.•Any repairsandworkon theapplianceshould

only be carried out by the customer service department, as unauthor ised work could prove highly dangerous for the user. The same applies to changing the mains power cable.•Donotallownakedflamesorignitionsourcesto

enter the appliance. When transporting and clean-ing the appliance ensure that the refrigerant circuit isnotdamaged.Intheeventofdamage,makesure that there are no ignition sources nearby and keep the room well ventilated.•Donotstandontheplinth,drawersordoorsor

use them to support anything else.•Thisapplianceisnotintendedforusebypersons

(including children) with reduced physical, sen-sory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given initial supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Childrenshouldbesupervisedtoensurethattheydo not play with the appliance.•Avoidprolongedskincontactwithcoldsurfacesor

cubes, immediately after taking them from the freezer compartment as there is a risk of "burn-ing" because of the very cold temperatures.•Donotconsumefoodwhichhasbeenstoredfor

too long, as it could cause food poisoning.

Range of appliance useThe appliance is suitable solely for cooling food in a domestic environment or similar. This includes, for example, use- in staff kitchenettes, bed and breakfast establish-

ments, - by guests in cottages, hotels, motels and other

forms of accommodation, - in catering and similar services in the wholesale

trade. Use the appliance solely as is customary within a domestic envi-ronment. All other types of use are inadmissible. The appliance is not suitable for storing and cooling medicines, blood plasma, laboratory preparations or similar substances and products cov-eredbythe2007/47/ECMedicalDevicesDirective.Anymisuseof the appliance may result in damage to or spoilage of stored goods. Furthermore, the appliance is not suitable for operation in potentially explosive atmospheres.

GBSetting up•Donotplace theappliance indirect sunlightornearcookers,

radiators and similar sources of heat.• Theflooronwhichtheappliancestandsshouldbehorizontaland

level. To compensate for any unevenness, adjust the height of the feet with the open-ended spanner supplied.

•Do not cover ventilation openings or grille.

•Donotplaceheat-emittingappliances,e.g.microwave oven, toaster, etc., on top of the freezer.

• StandardEN378specifiesthat theroominwhich you install your appliance must have a volume of 1 m3 per 8 g of R 600a refriger-ant used in the appliance, so as to avoid the formation of inflammable gas/air mixtures in the room where the appliance is located in the event of a leak in the refrigerant circuit. The quantity of refrigerant used in your appliance is indicated on the type plate on the inside of the appliance.

Safety lockThe lock in the appliance door is equipped with a safety mechanism. Locking the appliance:• Insertthekeyasshownbyarrow

1.• Turnthekey90°.To unlock the appliance, the same procedure must be repeated in the same order.

Electrical connectionOnly operate the appliance with alternating current (AC).The permissible voltage and frequency are indicated on the type plate. The position of the type plate is shown in the description of the appliance.The socket must be properly earthed and protected by a fuse.The tripping current of the fuse must be between 10 A and 16 A.

The socket must not be situated behind the appli-ance and must be easily accessible.Do not connect the appliance using an exten-sion cable or extension socket.

Do not use stand-alone inverters (conversion of direct current to alternating current/three-phase current) or energy-saving plugs. Risk ofdamagetotheelectroniccontrolsystem!

Noise emissions from the applianceThe noise level while the appliance is operating is below 70 dB(A) (relative noise level 1 pW).

Climate ratingThe climate rating indicates the room tem-perature at which the appliance may be operated in order to achieve full refrigeration performance.The climate rating is indicated on the type plate.The position of the type plate is shown in the section entitled Description of the appliance.

Do not operate the appliance outside the speci-fied room temperature range.

Audible warning signal The appliance is equipped with an alarm function.Audible door alarm:This sounds when the door has been left open for longer than about 60 seconds.Presstheaudiblewarningon/offbutton to cancel the alarm. The alarm switches back to standby when the door is shut.Audible/visual temperature alarm:Itsoundswhenitisnotcoldenoughinthefreezercompartment.The temperature display willalsoflash;TheaudiblewarningdeviceisswitchedoffbypressingtheALARM button.Thetemperaturedisplaywillcontinuetoflashuntilthecauseofthealarmhasbeenrectified.This can be caused by:• thefreezerdoorbeingleftopenforalongtime,allowingwarmambientairtoenter;

• alongpowerfailure;• afaultintheappliance.Ineachcase,makesurefoodhasnotdefrostedorperished.

Power failure "frost-control" display IfnA appears in the display, this means that the freezer temperature has risen too high during the last few hours or days due to a power failure.IfyoupresstheALARM button whilst the display is reading nA, the highest temperature registered during the power failure will bedisplayed.Checkthequalityofthefoodanditssuitabilityforconsumption in case it has become too warm or even defrosted.The highest temperature will appear for appox. 1 minute. After that, the actual temperature in the freezer will re-appear. The display canbeswitchedoffbyrepeatedlypressingtheALARM button.

Temperature displayThe temperature display indicates the highest tempera-ture in the freezer. The display is designed so that only temperaturesbelow0°Caredisplayed.

Temperature alarmIfthetemperaturedisplayisflashing,thisindicatesthatthetemper-ature has risen too high. The audible warning signal will sound at the same time.

PresstheALARM button toswitchthesignaloff.

Thetemperaturedisplaywillcontinuetoflashuntilthecauseofthealarmhasbeenrectified.IfF3appearsinthedisplay,theappliancehasafault.Itwillbekeptattherighttemperaturebymeansofasafetycircuit.Consultyour nearest customer service point.

Switching the appliance on and offYou are recommended to clean the appliance before switching it onforthefirsttime(see"Cleaning"). •To switch the appliance on:PresstheON/OFF button

until the temperature display lights up. - The two illuminated dashes of the digital temperature display will lightupuntilatemperatureof0°Cisreached.

-Ifthetemperatureisbelow0°C,thedigitaltemperaturedisplaywill show the temperature inside the appliance.

•To switch the appliance off:Press theON / OFF button for approx. two seconds so that the temperature display goes out.

Setting the temperatureTheapplianceispre-setfornormaloperation(-18°C).• To increase the temperature: Pressthetopbutton.• To reduce the temperature: Pressthebottombutton.- While you are entering the temperature, the set temperature will

flash on the display.-Youcanchangethesettingsinincrementsof1°Cbrieflypressing

the button again. - The electronic controls will switch over automatically about 5

seconds after the last time you pressed the button, and the actual temperature in the freezer will be displayed.

FreezingFresh food should be frozen to the core as rapidly as possible. This is provided bythe"Superfrost"facilityandensuresthat the nutritional value, appear ance andflavourofthefoodremainsintact.The maximum amount of food wich can be frozen in 24 hours is shown on the type plate ("Freezing capacity ...kg/24 hours").

lamp comes on.

• For small amounts of frozen food 6 hours is sufficient. The maxi-mum amount (see type plate) requires 24 hours.

• Placethefreshfoodinthefreezer.TheSuperfrostfunctionswitchesoff automatically. Depending on the quantity of food placed in thefreezer,thiswillnormallybebetween30andmax.65hours.

NB:WhenyoupresstheSuperfrostbutton,thecompressormightnot switch on for up to 8 minutes. This is due to the integrated rise-delay switch which is designed to increase the life span of the refrigeration unit. Note: Tosaveenergy,"Superfrost"canbeswitchedoffbeforethe30hourshaveelapsedbypressingtheSFbuttonagain.Ensurethatthetemperatureisatleast-18°C.

You should not switch on the Superfrost function:- whenplacingfrozenfoodinthefreezer;- when freezing up to approx. 2 kg fresh food daily.

DefrostingAfter a longer period of operation a layer of frost or ice can build up on the cooling plates in the freezer compartment. This will increase the energy consumption of the freezer. The cooling plates should therefor be defrosted regularly.• Switchtheapplianceofftodefrost.Pulloutthemainsplugorset

the temperature control to "0".•Wrapthefrozenfoodinpaperorblanketsandstoreinacoolplace.• Tospeedupthedefrostingprocessputasaucepanofhotbutnot

boiling water on one of the shelves.• Leave the door of the appliance open while defrosting. After

defrosting mop up the remaining water and clean the appliance.

Do not use any mechanical devices or other artificial aids for defrosting other than those recommended by the manufactur er.

MalfunctionsYou may be able to rectify the following faults by checking the possible causes yourself: Appliance does not function:–Istheapplianceswitchedon?–Istheplugcorrectlyfittedinthemainssocket?–Isthesocketfuseintact?Loud running noise:–Istheappliancesetupfirmlyonthefloor?– Does the appliance cause nearby items of furniture or objects to vibrate?Pleasenotethatnoisescausedbytherefrigerantcircuitcannot be avoided.

The temperature is not low enough:–Isthetemperaturesettingcorrect(see"Settingthetemperature")?– Have excessive amounts of fresh food been placed in the appli-ance?

– Does the separately installed thermometer show the correct read-ing?

–Istheventilationsystemworkingproperly?–Istheappliancesetuptooclosetoaheatsource?If none of the above causesapply and you cannot rectify the fault yourself, contact the nearest customer service de-partment stating the type of appliance ➊, service number ➋ and appliance number ➌ as indicated on the type plate.The position of the type plate is shown in the section entitled Description of the appliance.

Shutting your appliance downIfyourapplianceistobeshutdownforanylengthoftime,switchitoffanddisconnecttheplugorremovethefuse.Cleantheapplianceand leave the door open in order to prevent unpleasant smells.

The appliance complies with the relevant safety regulations and ECdirectives2004/108/ECand2006/95/EC.

CleaningBefore cleaning always switch off the appliance. Pull out the mains plug or remove/unscrew the fuse.Cleantheinside,equipmentpartsandouterwallswithlukewarmwater and a little detergent. Do not use abrasive or acid cleaners or chemical solvents.

Do not use steam cleaners because of the risk of injury and damage. • Ensurethatnocleaningwaterpenetratesintotheelectricalcom-

ponents or ventilation grille.•Dryallpartswellwithacloth.• Thedustshouldberemovedfromtherefrigerationunitandheat

exchanger – metal grid at the back of the appliance – once a year. •Donotdamageorremovethetypeplateontheinsideoftheap-pliance.Itisveryimportantforservicingpurposes.

Notes on freezing• Alwaysstoreidenticalfooditemstogether.• Packfoodwhichyouarefreezingyourselfinquantitiesappropriate

to your household. To ensure that the food freezes right through, thefollowingquantitiesshouldnotbeexeededperpackage:fruit,vegetables:upto1kg,meat:upto2,5kg.

• Packfrozenfoodinstandardfreezerbagsorreuseableplastic,metal or aluminium containers.

•Donotallowfreshfoodwhichistobefrozentocomeintocontactwith food already frozen. Always keep packs dry in order to avoid them sticking together.

• Alwayswritethedateandcontentsonthepackanddonotexeedthe stated storage time for the food.

•Donotfreezebottlesandcanswhichcontaincarbonateddrinksas they might burst.

•Onlytakeoutasmuchfoodasisimmediatelyrequiredforthawing.Use food which has been thawed in prepared meals as quickly as possible.

Frozen food can be thawed in the following ways:– in a fan oven– in a microwave oven– at room temperature–intherefrigerator:thecoldgivenoffbythefrozenfoodisusedfor

cooling.

Changing over door hinges Installation dimensions (mm)

1. Unscrew the hinge bracket.

2. Pull thedooroutat thebottomand lift off.

3. Transfer handle and plugs to the opposite side of the door.

4. Transfer pin on hinge bracket to the opposite side.

5. Movethepinatthetoptotheotherside.

6. Transfer cover plate to the opposite side.

7. Mountdooronhingepinandclose.

8. Insert hinge bracket in lower door mounting and screw into place.
