OVERVIEW

The ZM5002 EXCEL 5000® OpenLink Configuration Tool (see the following diagram)allows the user to define a set of third party Direct Digital Control (DDC) sub-network controllers and points. Mapping points to C-Bus controller user addresses(data points) created in the CARE Software Tool, converting engineering units fromone network to the other (optional), and downloading the OpenLink ConfigurationFiles in the OpenLink Controller are also part of the ZM5002 Excel OpenLinkConfiguration Tool. The result of these operations is the on-line point data sharingbetween the Honeywell C-Bus network controllers and third party networkcontrollers using the OpenLink Controller.

The ZM5002, a Microsoft® Windows™ application, takes advantage of menu bars, dialog boxes, and click-and-display features. Install the ZM5002 on a PC as for anyother Windows™ application. An Icon for the Tool is created during setup.

The ZM5002 is not an on-line monitoring Tool, rather it is only used for configurationand downloading of the OpenLink Controller.

The ZM5002 checks for configuration errors and allows the OpenLink Configurationto be sent to a printer or to a file.

The ZM5002 retrieves the applicable Project and OpenLink Controller informationfrom the CARE database. Together with the Sub-Network Interface Software(ordered separately) and user input, the OpenLink Configuration files are built andeventually downloaded into the Open Link Controller.

GETTING STARTED

Before configuring an OpenLink controller with ZM5002, set up the OpenLink Projectand Controller in the CARE Tool. To avoid going back and forth between ZM5002and CARE tools, first perform all of the necessary CARE configuration for theOpenLink.

Refer to the OpenLink System Engineering manual, specific to the sub-network, forinformation on planning the OpenLink system and for an overview of the CAREprogramming for the OpenLink.

The ZM5002 gathers needed information to create the OpenLink Configuration Filesfrom the CARE database (such as the Project, OpenLink Controller, and Data Pointinformation). When installing the ZM5002 Tool, the CARE directory is prompted andthat CARE database then becomes associated with the ZM5002 Tool.

This User’s Guide does not explain standard Windows™ usage functions because itis assumed the user is familiar with Windows™ conventions. It is also assumed theuser uses a mouse with Windows™.

ZM5002 Start-up

After installing the software on the PC (see the ZM5002 Excel OpenLinkConfiguration Tool Software Release Bulletin provided with the software forinstallation instructions), an OLink Windows™ icon exists. This icon was created andresides in a Windows™ group created during installation of this Tool.

Procedure To start the ZM5002 application:A Start up Windows™ and locate the OLink icon.B Double click on the OLink icon. The main menu appears:

When working with CARE, alternate between CARE and ZM5002 as with any otherWindows™ application.

IMPORTANT:If any changes are made in CARE while the ZM5002 is open, Windows™errors may occur. This happens because both CARE and the ZM5002share the same database. Close and reopen the ZM5002 to make sure thecurrent database is being shared with CARE.

ThisDownload feature sends the OpenLink Configuration Files (that wereconfigured with this Tool) to the OpenLink controller.

A rule for downloading an OpenLink controller: whenever downloadingeither CARE or ZM5002, do both. It does not matter which is downloadedfirst, just that both are downloaded.

RESULT: The OpenLink File Download dialog box displays.

The OpenLink File Download Results: list box indicates a successful connectionand downloading progress for the three different tables. A Downloading OpenLinkPassed! message indicates a successful download. At a COM speed of 9600 baud, the download takes slightly less than three minutes.

Any Download errors or Connecting problems show in the OpenLink FileDownload Results: list box.
