THE RIGINALS
I am sure anyone reading this right now is completely drained from hearing over and over about the ill-famed corona virus. Well, this miniscule-sized microbe has devastated thousands of families across the globe leading to many researchers to spend millions of dollars and hundreds of hours to find a vaccine. It has been concluded by professionals that a vaccine may be ready by the end of 2020! The entire world has been on their toes on finding a vaccine to the virus. Researchers in Oxford University, UK, have informed us that their developing vaccine minimises the side-effects of corona virus; the researchers have also claimed that this vaccine is responding to the virus as immunity would. There is
further hope considering that a Canadian and Chinese joint project gained success in the development of their vaccine. They plan to continue testing. The biggest news of now, however, seems to be that Russia has developed a vaccine that offers “sustainable immunity”. All around the world, there are 165 vaccine candidates being studied, five of which are in the third stage of clinical trials. The third stage refers to the last stage, where if a vaccine shows positive results, it may be approved for full usage. Now that the Russian vaccine has been developed, its safety needs to be considered, but till then, we must all hang on. There may be a road nearing the end of this pandemic!

2020 MAY FINALLY BE TAKING A GOOD TURN:
Independence Day marks the e n d o f t h e British rule in 1947 and the establishment o f a n Independent Indian Nation. I t a l s o represents the part i t ion of
the two countries, India and Pakistan. It is one of the most important days in Indian History. After independence, India became the largest democracy in the world. Like in every other city or corner of the country, Independence Day in MIS is always celebrated with full enthusiasm and liveliness. Students from different classes participate with all their energy and make this event a very grand one. But, this year, like everything else, we have it virtually with an Inter House Dance Competition on different patriotic songs. Nevertheless, we will put in our best foot forward to make this virtual Independence Day celebration a great one.

BEIRUT ON FIRE
The deadly blast that ripped across Beirut on Wednesday was due to possible negligence in the storage of tons of highly explosive fertilisers in a waterfront warehouse. The explosion shook the whole city, killed at least 113 people, and injured more than 4,000 others. The government has declared a two-week emergency. All officials responsible for the ports have been put under house arrest pending an investigation. President M. Aoun in a cabinet meeting, stated that "No words can describe the horror that has hit Beirut last night, turning it into a disaster-stricken city”. The explosion transpired due to ammonium nitrate which was being stored in the warehouse since 2013. The heads of the authority had written to the judiciary several times about the chemicals exportation to ensure port safety. Lebanon's Defence Chief has vowed that those held liable will be punished severely. Losses from the blast are estimated to be between 10 billion USD to 15 billion USD, with 300,000 people homeless. Lebanon already was on the verge of collapse amid a severe economic crisis and the coronavirus pandemic. Food security is a worry, as the country imports nearly all its vital goods and its main port is now devastated. The government is strapped for cash. There is fuelling speculation that negligence was to be blamed for the accident, an official letter circulating online portrayed that the massive pile of ammonium nitrate stored in the port was a danger and appealed the judicial officials for a ruling on the way to remove it. The explosion was the worst single explosion to strike Lebanon, a country whose history is loaded with destruction.

MIS has always been known for its cultural outlook. To add meaning to this very thought our school celebrated Janmashtami on 11th august 2020 to seek the blessings of Lord Krishna. All those present in the school campus, dressed in their traditional clothes and went for the Pooja which took place at the school reception area. With mindful of love and hearts flooded with devotion all of us prayed for the well-being of this extended family along with the people worldwide. The Pooja concluded with ‘bhajans’ and ‘aarti' that left each and every person tranquil. It was a great experience overall.

JOURNEY THROUGH THE MYSTERIOUS GLOBE
33 crore students have been stuck at home since March 2020 as all educational institutions shut their doors to slow yet steady spread of Coronavirus. The Central government is hoping to reopen the schools by September. States like Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, and Kerala proposed their plans of reopening the schools from August itself. With the recovery rate increasing, parents, students and teachers are waiting for everything to go back to normal. The government is still skeptical as positive COVID cases and fear of parents’ continue to surge. States have argued that education in government schools is suffering. Many students cannot avail the benefits of “online learning”. The government is yet to decide the final reopening dates but is considering to open schools in a phased manner for higher and then primary and preprimary classes. Final guidelines could be issued later this month.
