Rome is my favourite city, there is always some- thing new to see there. Whenever I travel, I make it a point to taste the local cuisine. Every time we have done that, we have been sur- prised by the taste. I mean, there are so many things to choose from, you know! But as an actor, I always have been conscious of eating healthy. In fact, she points out, the brighter side of the proverbial coin is the fact there is a lot of customer loy- alty for beauty products. “Once people are hooked to your product, they stick to it,” she says. After all, if a certain body lotion suits your skin and you like it, there are little chances of you switching to another product ever! In the past one decade we have seen several inter- national brands like Body Shop, Mac, Estee Lauder etc., make a place in the Indian market. Besides, in order to cater to an international market you have to study the nature of locals’ skin and come up with area specific products. So, going global isn’t an option for a fledgling com- pany. According to Blossom, another reason for this is that there is a very stringent control on ingredients, labeling and branding in India. However, now, Kochhar observes, Indian brands have begun to exer- cise rigid quality control. “The consumers these days are extremely aware,” she says. “They ask all sorts of questions and you can’t fool them.” Blossom’s latest product range is Aroma Magic, which she stresses is only for pro- fessionals.
