VCE ACHIEVEMENTS Congratulations Class of 2020 CRICOS Provider No: 03298G On behalf of the Genazzano FCJ College community, I extend my sincere congratulations to each and every student in our VCE Class of 2020. In a year like no other, our students have indeed risen to the challenge and we could not be prouder of them. We had a total of 162 students successfully complete their VCE certificate, and they graduate from Genazzano as young women of strength, resilience, determination, courage and confidence. Genazzano FCJ College is a school that welcomes and supports all students to strive to achieve personal excellence. As I view each of our young women’s achievements, I am delighted to share with you their outstanding results. The median study score was 34 and the percentage of study scores greater than 40 was 20%. Notably, a total of 13 students received an ATAR of 99 or above and 72 achieved an ATAR greater than 90, which equates to 45%. Our median ATAR was 88.3. What is perhaps most significant about these statistics, is the depth of achievement under the most challenging of circumstances. Our Year 12 students spent a total of 14 weeks of school time learning remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown. Our College Dux, Emily Condon, attained an outstanding Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank of 99.8. Her results included a perfect score of 50 in Psychology and last year, a perfect score of 50 in Health and Human Development, achieving the Premier’s Award. Emily’s results in English, Chemistry, Mathematical Methods and French were also outstanding. I extend my sincere congratulations to Emily and wish her well as she undertakes a University course in Law and Global Studies. I also extend my congratulations to the following students who also attained perfect study scores: Chanel Micelotta in Psychology, Lara Partridge in Italian, Ella McEvoy in English, Georgia Ryan in Media, Madeline Grave (Year 11) in Health and Human Development, Mary Ryan (Year 11) in Product Design and Technology and Prudence Spencer (Year 11) in Product Design and Technology. Furthermore, I am delighted to announce the following students, 8% of the cohort, who received an ATAR of 99 or above: Ruby Curtis (99.7), Lara Partridge (99.7), Chelsea Kwan (99.65), Emily Croagh (99.6), Ella McEvoy (99.5), Maeve Ryan (99.45), Ruby Atkin (99.25), Amelia Grounds (99.2), Anabel Robertson (99.15), Georgia Farlecas (99.05), Audrey Hogg (99.05) and Elissa Grossi (99.0). The partnership between students, parents and teachers at Genazzano is highly evident. I acknowledge the guidance, commitment and dedication of the Year 12 teachers and those who have taught the students throughout their educational journey at the College. We are delighted with the achievements of all our students. I extend my gratitude and sincere thanks to our Year 12 teachers, all staff at the College, parents and families, and the wider school community for your support and encouragement of our girls throughout this very challenging year. On behalf of the Genazzano FCJ College community, I extend my sincere congratulations to each and every student in our VCE Class of 2020. In a year like no other, our students have indeed risen to the challenge and we could not be prouder of them. We had a total of 162 students successfully complete their VCE certificate, and they graduate from Genazzano as young women of strength, resilience, determination, courage and confidence.

It is with great pleasure that we acknowledge and congratulate Emily Condon as the Dux of Genazzano FCJ College for 2020.

She attains this honour due to her achievement of a superb Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank of 99.8. Emily achieved outstanding results in Chemistry, English, French, Mathematical Methods and perfect scores of 50 for Psychology and Health and Human Development (Year 11). In 2019 she was the recipient of the Premier’s Award and the Nicolette Gaughwin Award for Excellence in Health and Human Development.

Emily commenced her educational journey at Genazzano as a Year 5 student in 2013 and is described by her teachers as a highly-organised, diligent, focused and self-disciplined student who gives nothing but her best to accomplish her goals. Emily fully immersed herself in all Genazzano has to offer and attained her Gold Laurel in 2019 for her co-curricular involvement. As an active participant

Congratulations to Lara Partridge as our Proxime Accessit, on her outstanding Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank of 99.7. Lara achieved excellent results in Chemistry, English, Literature, Mathematical Methods and Ancient History (Year 11) and attained a perfect score of 50 in Italian. Lara’s flair for languages was recognised in 2019 when she was awarded First Prize in the Italian-Australian Writing Competition and First

in our musical ensembles at the College, she was Principal Flute in our Symphony Orchestra and achieved Grade 8 A+ for her flute studies. In the sporting arena, she was a member of many teams including as a First VIII Rower and achieved a Service to Sport Award. Her leadership in Sport was recognised further as 2020 Sports Captain and she is the recipient of the Genazzano Sportswoman of the Year 2020.

Emily is a true Gen Girl, an all-rounder who embodies the value of companionship by acting as a mentor for many girls. She has excelled in so many ways at our College and her attaining of the prestigious award, as Dux of Genazzano, is a fitting tribute to a student who has seized a myriad of opportunities. We wish Emily every success as she embarks upon the next stage of her educational journey to study Law and Global Studies.

Ruby commenced her studies at Genazzano in Year 6 in 2014. Her teachers commend her academic focus and independent approach to her studies. Her leadership flourished throughout 2020 as our Social Justice Prefect and she was awarded the Ann Lorkin Award for Faith in Action at the Valedictory Awards in recognition of her outstanding leadership throughout Social Justice Week.

Involved in a myriad of co-curricular opportunities and attaining her Red Band, Ruby was most notably, an A Grade Debater and played GSV Indoor Cricket.

We extend our sincere congratulations to Ruby and wish her every success in her future endeavours beyond our school gates as she plans to study Biomedicine.

Prize in the Original Written Italian- Australian Poetry Competition. In 2019 she was the recipient of the Christine Martin Award for Excellence in Ancient History.

A very friendly and polite student, Lara’s teachers admire her determined and focused approach to her studies and eagerness to learn. Lara commenced her studies at Genazzano in Year 7 in 2015 and has been actively involved in an extensive range of co-curricular activities throughout her time at the College, notably as an ongoing member of the Senior Choir and Netball teams. In 2018 she was awarded her Gold Laurel for her commitment to this program and in 2020 she undertook the role of Co-curricular Captain to support other students to fully embrace all the opportunities the College has to offer.

Beyond the classroom Chelsea participated in our Co-curricular Program and achieved her Gold Laurel in 2018, as a result of her extensive involvement in our Genazzano Music program, as a flautist and as a member of the Symphonic Band. Added to this she participated in numerous sporting teams including Netball, Badminton and Indoor Cricket. Her commendable work ethic, attention to detail and dedication to her studies has contributed to her success as she hopes to study Biomedicine or Engineering. We wish her all the very best with her future endeavours.

In 2019 she was the recipient of the Gladys Holzer Brehney Award for Excellence in History: Revolutions for the highest Individual Study Score (Year 11).

An active participant in the Co-curricular Program at the College, Ella received her Gold Laurel in 2017. She has been involved in numerous activities, most notably in A Grade Debating where her leadership was acknowledged as the 2020 Debating & Public Speaking Prefect. In addition, she has been actively involved in numerous Music ensembles, most notably, playing the flute and has also contributed to College life through her commitment to a wide variety of the sports on offer at Genazzano. In 2019 she held the position of Corry House Captain and Learning & Brain Sciences Captain and in 2020 was awarded the FCJ Commitment Award.

We are delighted to congratulate Ruby on her achievement of an outstanding Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank of 99.25. This is the result of excellent results in Chemistry, English, French, Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics and Biology, which she completed in Year 11. Ruby joined Genazzano in Year 7 in 2015 and quickly immersed herself in all the College has to offer.

Congratulations to Amelia as we recognise her achievements in attaining an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank of 99.2.

This impressive accomplishment consists of excellent results in Chemistry, English Language, Latin and Mathematical Methods. In 2019 she studied Health and Human Development and was the recipient of the Award for Excellence in Philosophy.

An active participant in the Co-curricular Program at the College, Ruby received her Gold Laurel in 2018. Musically, Ruby was involved in our Choirs, Concert Band, Clarinet Ensemble and Symphonic Band. As to sports, Ruby loves to run and swim; and has competed as part of a myriad of our programs including, Netball, Track and Field and Gen Ride Club. In 2020 she was awarded the Dr Jane Connor Memorial Award for Outreach to the Community for her extensive involvement in College Sport. In addition, Ruby is a Grade A Debater and was an active and enthusiastic member of the inaugural Brain Science Club. As College Captain in 2020, Ruby carried out her duties with aplomb and was a tremendous role model for our students. Her indomitable resilience and infectious positivity were gifts to the College this year. It is our pleasure to now also celebrate Ruby’s academic success and we wish her all the very best life has to offer as she continues her educational journey and commences her studies in Biomedicine.

Amelia began her studies at Genazzano in Year 7 in 2015. Throughout her time at school, she has been actively involved in our extensive Co-curricular Program, and attained her Gold Laurel in 2020. Furthermore, this year she was our Learning & Brain Sciences Captain and assisted in the organisation and facilitation of our Neurodiversity online conference. Amelia has been actively involved in our Music Program throughout her time at Genazzano, most notably, our Senior Chamber Choir, Senior Choir, Symphonic Band and a number of school musicals and productions. Added to this she has enjoyed much sport including Gen Ride Club and Lacrosse. Amelia is a respectful and friendly student who always works well with her peers and diligently approaches her studies. We wish her every success as she seeks to study Medicine next year.

We congratulate Anabel on her impressive Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank of 99.15. This is the result of an excellent performance in Chemistry, English, Italian, Mathematical Methods, Psychology and Further Mathematics (Year 11). She was the 2019 recipient of the Genazzano Father’s Association Award for Excellence in Further Mathematics, achieving the highest individual study score.

We are delighted to share Georgia’s excellent performance in the VCE examinations, obtaining an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank of 99.05. This is an impressive set of results in her chosen subjects of Chemistry, English, Latin, Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics and Biology (Year 11).

Anabel commenced her studies at Genazzano in Year 5 in 2013 and has been actively involved in a myriad of aspects of College life. Her love of sport saw her compete in Netball, GSV Track and Field, Soccer and she was a member of the Rowing Daniher, Canty and Radford Squads (from Year 8 to Year 12) and was nominated as Rowing Captain for 2020. In 2019 her leadership was also recognised as Gerda House Captain.

A friendly, positive and proactive student, Anabel is to be commended on her significant achievement and we wish her all the very best as she embarks on her next phase of study into the field of Science.

College to Year 12. As a Clarinet player she was involved in the Clarinet Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Band. An avid sports woman, particularly in the areas of Netball and Water Polo, Georgia won a number of coach’s awards and in 2020 her leadership potential was recognised as she was elected Corry House Captain.

An earnest, diligent, polite and thoughtful student, we are thrilled to share in Georgia’s wonderful achievement and know her future will be very bright as she commences her studies in Medicine.

In 2019 she was a generous and attentive host to our Chinese sister school when they visited and she was nominated d’Houet House Captain in 2020. Elissa joined our College in Year 7 in 2015 as a highly-focused, friendly and inclusive student. An avid sportswoman, Elissa attained her co-curricular Red Band for her involvement in numerous sports teams including Netball, GSV Triathlon, Cross Country, Basketball and Volleyball, and was a regular at the Gen Fitness program. Her commitment and involvement to sport was acknowledged by winning The Joan Crowe-McPhee Memorial Award for Sporting Excellence and Team Spirit 2020.

Her leadership potential was recognised as 2020 Stock House Prefect. An excellent role model, Elissa’s care and companionship towards all members of our community has been much appreciated. We commend Elissa on these results and wish her every success for her future studies and adventures as she hopes to study Engineering and Commerce.
