Hove Street is the oldest in Hove, and was once the high street in a smallfishing village on the outskirts of Brighton which, at the start of the 19thCentury, was already blossoming into the Regency city we see today. Thisexpanded into Hove in later decades, as the surrounding farmland was usedfor construction to meet the needs of a vastly growing population who wereflocking to the coast to reap the benefits of the sea air and bathing. TheShip Inn; now The Ginger Pig, was one of the oldest public houses whosestables were built in 1870, and now form the quiet gated mews in which thishouse stands.It was completed earlier this year, and it is immediately apparent that onlythe finest materials and workmanship has been used in its creation. Beautifulgalvanised steel gates with remote control access, as well as a video entrysystem for visitors, opens to the driveway, which widens towards the house.This house is the largest of the three, and is on the far right of the terracewith a gabled roof, red brick detailing, and the original stable block tilesdefining the patio area. Bi-folding doors span the width of the living area,which have replaced the original stable doors, and these are double glazedand on trend with a slate grey frame. When open during the warmermonths, the courtyard becomes an extension of the living room; perfect forsummer soirees.Inside, the exposed brick walls are again original, as are the restored castiron radiators; and the log burner has a gleaming stainless steel flue which,along with the chandelier creates a look that is both industrial and Regency;so current in the world of interiors, and a reminder of the building'shistorical roots. The engineered oak floors flow throughout in walnut tones,and the sleek kitchen resides at the rear of the room, forming a U shapewith charcoal gloss base units, topped with white Quartz, and seamless wallunits also in white. An arm of the kitchen forms a visual divide into theroom, and is also a breakfast bar so guests can chat to you as you cook onthe glass gas hob which is inlaid within it. The sink and draining grooveshave been cut into the worktop, and this has a tri-way tap to include a waterfilter, and a further flexi tap for easy cleaning. The Neff oven, washingmachine, dishwasher, fridge and freezer are all integrated below thecounter, and the extractor hood is ceiling hung in brushed chrome.The dining room is accessed through double sliding doors, so this can beclosed off as bedroom three as it has an en suite shower room, or to beused as a family snug room or a peaceful home office.The bespoke balustrade in in brushed steel adorns the open stairs to thefirst floor, and the stairwell is well lit from above by a remote operated, raindetecting Velux window. The main bathroom is first on the left, and is aluxurious room with a contemporary freestanding bathtub in white, standingout against a slate, split face wall, and large slate tiles on the floor.The bedrooms in front and to the right are both generous doubles, withplush grey carpet underfoot, with the smaller of the two enjoying access toa wide, west facing balcony, and also another en suite shower room. Themaster has ample space for a king size bed and several pieces offreestanding furniture without compromising on floor space, and thevaulted ceilings, with interesting angles, add character and interest.
