    TEEN NIGHT Calling all Teens

FRESHMAN to SENIOR: You are invited to join us for Teen Night

Sunday evenings after 6 pm Mass.

TEEN NIGHT will be moving to Wednesday night at 6:30 pm after the new year.

Did You Know? Regarding the second prerequisite for the reception of Holy Communion (fasting), Canon Law 919 Section 1 states: “Whoever is to receive the blessed Eucharist is to abstain for at least one hour before holy communion from all food and drink, with the sole exception of water and medicine.” Note, it says at least one hour before Holy Communion – not one hour before Mass. To abstain even longer will increase the “hunger” (at least symbolically) to receive the Eucharist. An exception to this is in Section 3, which states: “The elderly and those who are suffering from some illness, as well as those who care for them, may receive the blessed Eucharist even if within the preceding hour they have consumed some-thing.” Fasting used to be from midnight onward until Pope Pius XII reduced it to three hours. It was further reduced to the one hour by Pope Paul VI.

Lighthouse CD of the Week Love or Lust? Jason and Crystalina Evert Scare tactics, guilt trips, and the climbing teen pregnancy rates don’t really inspire anyone to love. In this presentation from Jason and Crystalina Evert, you’ll dis-cover the difference between love and lust while getting straight answers about dating, relationships, and sexual purity.

Lord Teach Me To Pray-Part 1 Part I, Praying Christian Virtues (12 weeks), introduces Ignatian prayer and spirituality in the way that St. Ignatius himself introduced people; i.e., by structuring their initial prayer experience around the Christian Virtues. There will be a Part 1 Series which will begin in January, 2014. Call the par-ish office for more details.
