PAGE 2 THE TRIUMPH A PLACE OF HOPE!

School has ended and summer has begun. I pray that those traveling for vacation would be safe, and enjoy your family time. We are taking a two week break in June but once we start we don’t stop. It is going to be an exciting summer!

Upcoming Events: June 17 - Fellowship Night @ the Bales Home, 6-9 pm

June 20-24 - VBS June 23 - Final Ecuador Meeting June 27- July 2 - Centrifuge

Fellowship Nights Since we will not have regular Sunday or Wednesday Night activities through the summer, we will have five Fellowship Nights. These Fellowship Nights will take place in the homes of our church members. They will be from 6-9 pm. Information for each Fellowship can be found in the Student Ministry Bulletin.

Our first Fellowship Night is at Elmer and Katrina Bales’ home on June 17 from 6-9 pm. We will Tie Dye shirts for camp. If you are not going to camp you can still tie dye a shirt. Please bring a blank white T-shirt. Also, there will be food, so you will not need to eat beforehand.

Centrifuge Be in prayer for our group of 24 as we

head to Union University in Jackson, TN for camp. This camp is all about centering on the individual and their rela-tionship with God. Pray that the Holy Spirit would move in the hearts of our students and adults and that they would make great strides in their walk with Christ.

VBS Summer is here! It is time for you to sign-up to help with VBS if you have not already! There is a sign-up sheet on the youth table. Please include your name and where you prefer to work. We will take this into account when assigning your positions.

Ecuador Our Ecuador team will have their final meeting June 23 at 6:30 pm.

Please remain in prayer for our group of 9 as we continue preparing for the work God has for us to do in Quito, Ecua-dor. Also keep the nation of Ecuador in your prayers as they have just endured a massive earthquake. Many lives have been lost and there is a lot of work ahead for the people of Ecuador. The work we will be doing in Ecuador has been impacted by the fallout from the earthquake.

One of the greatest blessings in Student Ministry are pour-ing into the lives of students over the summer. It is a great blessing to me as a Student Pastor. It is a great blessing for students to be with other students around the Word of God. So I want to encourage each of you to make sure your stu-dents can participate in as many summer activities with the Church as possible, and that you make sure their friends can come if they express interest. Something as small as giving someone a ride can have an eternal impact.

In Christ,

Allen

Operation Christmas Child Operation Christmas Child Update: Praise the Lord! Our new and improved 2016 OCC drive has been successful to this point. For exam-ple, we have already collected enough soap and washcloths for 500+ shoeboxes. Although we have not counted each item from January - May, we have collected a large number. Through the summer, the WMU ladies will complete an inventory of all items and update you in the bulletin. We hope this approach has eased the burden of longer shopping lists during the holidays. Please feel free to complete your own shoeboxes. We have ordered 500 boxes and you are welcome to use these boxes as well. Below is a reminder of the suggested list for 2016. Please feel free to shop for any of your favorite shoebox items at any time. OCC bins have been placed in six Sunday School classrooms and in the narthex for you to use. Items placed in the bins will be regularly monitored and stored.

June—flashlights/jump ropes July—toothbrushes/toothpaste August—pencils/sharpeners/erasers/pens September—musical toys/cars/balls/jacks/ pumps & balls October—dolls/stuffed animals November—letter inserts and packaging December—Prayer

Although the WMU has agreed to take the lead on this project, we want the entire church to feel a part of each undertaking. Therefore, we will have sev-eral “packing parties” and will invite our church family to participate. One major party will be a

“family night packing party.” Watch the bulletin for dates and times, probably during late August and

into September.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Dot

Miller at 859-918-6254/email at [email protected] or any of

the WMU ladies. Let’s pray continually that God will lead us to do

His will in this mission opportunity.

Blessings bestowed When author Gary Smalley asked 100 people to share how they knew they’d received their parents’ blessing, they offered these memories of fatherly love:

• My father put his arm around me at church and let me lay my head on his shoulder. • When my father faced a transfer at work, he purposely took another job so I could finish my senior year in high school. • When I wrecked my parents’ car, my father’s first reac-tion was to hug me and let me cry instead of yelling at me. • My father went with me to the store when I had to re-turn a purchase I regretted. • My father let me practice pitching to him for a long time after work. • My father cried during my wedding because he was going to miss me being at home.
