Note from the president On behalf of the P&C, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the new and returning Halidon families for 2019. We have an exciting year ahead, with planning for this year’s calendar of P&C events well underway! In addition to crowd favourites such as: Colour Run, Anzac Breakfast and Mother’s & Father’s Day stalls, we are looking forward to introducing a few NEW events in 2019! Keep your eye out for details on our Adults Quiz Night, Easter Raffle, Grand Cinemas Private Movie Screening and end of year Community Event! I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of our amazing volunteers and P&C members; without whom our fundraisers, canteen operations and parent voice for the school would not be possible. I’d also like to thank the families who have already transferred their Voluntary $45 P&C Contributions for 2019. As a not-for-profit organisation, our P&C continue to be grateful for the support we receive from the Halidon community. A main objective of our P&C Association is to focus on the improvement and provision of products and services around our school to benefit the children. Whilst we do hold events throughout the year to help raise funds for certain projects and resources, the Voluntary Family Contributions assist greatly in the general running of our P&C, without which we would not be able to provide the services and benefits we do for the school and children. If you would like to make a P&C Voluntary Contribution, these are paid directly to the school, the same as your student contribution fees. The P&C Contribution is $45 per family, per year (not per student). Thank you again to your continued support. I look forward to welcoming you at our next event, the Anzac Day Breakfast on 12th April.... and to many more occasions throughout the year! Mel Harry P&C President

HaliDads Camp Out

On Saturday 23rd March, the Halidad’s hosted their first Halidon Dads and Father Figures School Camp-Out. The response from parents and kids was amazing and we managed to get 115 of us into just over 40 tents pitched on the school grounds.

Everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and it was really special seeing how much our kids enjoyed themselves.

Some parents and their kids were experiencing camping for the first time and after the good times that were enjoyed on Saturday and Sunday, hopefully it won’t be the last!

Dads, Father figures, Grandparents and their kids formed groups on the school oval and were playing cricket, soccer and footy late into the Saturday evening. Then, after everyone finally made it to sleep, we woke up on Sunday to another beautiful morning and the smell of bacon and egg breakfast rolls cooked up by the parents.

Every member of the Halidad’s committee worked really hard to make the Camp-Out happen, not to mention a great deal of support from Mel, Shelley and the P&C. We are also grateful to Helen and Andrew for allowing us to use the school grounds for the event and for all the support they have given the Halidad’s so far. We need to thank some amazing support we received from businesses in the local community: Bakers Delight in Kingsley for suppling our bread buns, aprons, napkins, discount vouchers and colouring competition material and Richard from Cuppa Time, who turned up with his coffee van for our much needed caffeine fix in the morning.

Finally, we would like to thank all the amazing parents and kids at Halidon for supporting the Halidad’s and what we are trying to do. We would ask you to keep on supporting us and we look forward to hosting more events over the school year.
