Lesson 5.6 WarmUp:Solve each inequality.1) 2x  +  4  >  6

2) 5n    3(n    6)  >  0

3) 23    t  <  2(t    9)    3(t  +  2)

Solve each compound inequality.  Then graph the solution.4) m  +  3  >  5  and m  +  3  <  7

5) n  >  2  or 2n    3  >  5

Lesson 5.6:

*linear inequality  an inequality with 2 variables (x and y) that include a "halfplane" of the coordinate graph.

*Steps for graphing a linear inequality:Graph the inequality (as if it were an equation)

[Use a dashed line for < or > and a solid line for < or >.]Pick a point and "test" it in the inequality."IF the point works...shade the halfplane containing the point

and "IF" the point doesn't work...shade the other halfplane.
