Day 1: Departure from the USA-San Jose Depart on your flight to beautifulCosta Rica, the “Rich Coast” as it was named by explorer Christopher Columbus in the 1500’s. Upon arrival in San Jose, the country’s economic, political and cultural capital, you are greeted at the airport by your Tour Directorand escorted to your hotel where the balance of your day is free.

Day 2: San Jose This morning’s guided sight-seeing of San Jose features visits to 19th-centuryNational Theatre, considered the nation’s finestmonument, and the National Museumwith itsfine collection of antiques from pre-Columbianto modern times. Enjoy views of MetropolitanCathedral, Central Park, and the University ofCosta Rica. On your free time, consider a visit to one of the city’s many museums or shoppingin the Plaza de la Cultura.

Day 3: San Jose-Zarcero-Arenal VolcanoArea Journey to the Lake Arenal region whereyour first stop is the mountain town of Zarcero,famous for its amazing animals sculpted fromliving cypress trees. Continue to one of the area’sThermal Hot Springswhose warm water is heatedfrom within the volcano. You may swim or strollthrough the botanical gardens. Proceed to theArenal Volcano area for your overnight stay.

Day 4: Arenal Volcano Area Today’s high-light is a visit to the Arenal Volcano National Parkwhere you will see incredible views of one ofthe world’s most active volcanoes, considereddormant until the late 1960’s.

Day 5: Arenal Volcano Area-Carara-Jaco Beach Area Your day begins with a scenicdrive along the old Spanish route which, incolonial times, led to the Pacific Ocean. Later,visit the Carara Biological Reserve, ideal for bird-watching, where you see a wide variety of the area’s native birds, butterflies, animals,and plants. Later, proceed to the Jaco Beacharea along the Pacific Ocean.

Day 6: Jaco Beach Area-Manuel Antonio-Jaco Beach Area Enjoy an exciting full-dayexcursion to Manuel Antonio National Park, oneof Costa Rica’s most beautiful parks, to observeits wide variety of wildlife and marine life. Enjoyfree time to relax in the gardens along the white,sandy beaches before returning to the JacoBeach area.

Day 7: Jaco Beach Area Enjoy an entire freeday to explore the Jaco Beach area at your ownpace. Free-time activities you may consider arehorseback riding, golf, surfing, ocean kayaking,whitewater rafting, and ecological tours.

Day 8: Jaco Beach Area-Sarchi-Poas Volcano-San Jose-(Costa Rican Fiesta)Begin your day with a drive to the rustic villageof Sarchi, best known for its colorful nativecrafts. Later, journey to Poas Volcano NationalPark to see the world’s largest active crater set in one of Mesoamerica’s most splendid nationalparks. Hike through a nature trail up to thegreen crater lagoon. Later, return to San Jose.Celebrate your final night in Costa Rica by join-ing our optional Farewell Fiesta with traditionalfood and entertainment.
