DSM 9 TH OPEN STREET SW 9 FRIENDS OF SW FRIENDS th th Street closed between Watrous and Park Avenue on SW 9th Street What: A 4 hour family/business street picnic allowing businesses to promote themselves, food and game vendors, music and other entertainment. Where: Between Watrous and Park Avenue on SW 9th Street When: September 7th Noon to 4 p.m. Why: Promote SW 9th businesses and bring awareness to the SW 9th revitalization project. The results of this project will enhance the corridor by removing the blighted sites, help small businesses improve their visibility and working to slow traffic down. The project stretches from the viaduct at Thomas Beck road to the overpass at Highway 5 bypass. In conjunction with the Des Moines East and South Chamber of Commerce and the SW 9th Merchants Association this event is the spring board towards the City of Des Moines’ five year plan to make SW 9th more business friendly and improve its overall appearance as one of the three main corridors going into the city of Des Moines from the south.
