Changes occur rapidly in the fields of HIV and Hepatology. is course is designed to provide practitioners with the most up-to-date clinical informationon a variety of topics to assist in their care of patients living with HIV and/orHepatitis C. Presentation formats include didactic sessions and interactive casepresentations, followed by subsequent question and answer periods.

COURSE OBJECTIVESAfter attending the course, participants should be able to: • Describe the steps New York State has taken to accomplish the end of the

AIDS epidemic in New York State. • Discuss the Department of Health and Human Services Treatment

Guidelines for antiretroviral therapy, including common medications used in HIV treatment in 2019.

• Discuss the rationale for the rapid initiation of antiretroviral therapy following an HIV diagnosis.

• Describe updates in sexually transmitted infections (STIs).• Describe some strategies to attempt to de-escalate situations with agitated

clients without resorting to force or restraint.• Define trauma-informed care and list ways that agencies can apply this

information to their sites.• Apply presented strategies for treatment to case presentations.

TARGET AUDIENCEe symposium will be of interest to physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, pharmacists, social workers, mental health practitioners, and case managers who care for patients with HIV and Hepatitis C.
