Dated : February 20, 2013 Sub : Procedures for Compulsory Practical Training May-July 2013 For Attention : Professor-in-charge, T&P of the students of 3 rd year B.Tech./Dual Degree & 4 th year Integrated M. Sc. T&P forwards details of Department-wise list of training seats received from organizations (with terms & conditions) to the Training-in-charge of the Department. – Third Week of February, 2013.   Professor-in-charge, T&P of each department may display the list, call for options from the students and finalize the nominations, based on students’ preference & CGPA and forward the nominations to T&P (for issuing summer training nomination letters to the respective organizations) - Last week of February, 2013.  The allotment of training programmes of all the students by T & P Section will be frozen by 01 st March 2013 (as decided by 287 th Senate meeting dated 29.12.2008). No further change will be entertained under any circumstances.  Students already selected for summer training by companies through campus should not be permitted to exercise options.  No change of nominations against the training seats should be permitted once the list of nominations has been finalized and forwarded to T&P Section.  It may be noted that if the seats offered by the companies/organisations are not utilized by the students, they may cease to allot any training seats to our Institute in future.  However, if any student desires to make his or her arrangements for training in any Universities/organizations where Institute have active memorandum of understanding (See Attachment). All such requests should be processed through Department concerned and Prof.- in-Charge, T & P. Institute will not extend any financial support to travels etc. To the students going to foreign univer sities for int ernship. However, students should be encouraged t o do internship under the direct control of faculty members and in the process they can publish research papers (as decided by 145 th HOD meeting dated 24.11.2009) .  Moreover, The Board of Governors at its 168 th meeting held on 22.4.2011 considered that the students working on a sponsored project as a part of the summer internship are paid suitable assistantship/stipend whereas the students working under the supervisors who do not have a project are not being paid any assistantship and decided that the students working under the supervisors who do not have a project be paid Rs. 2000/- per month from their Caution Money for a maximum period of two months, subject to the conditioned that they have to clear all the dues if the balance Caution Money is not enough to meet the dues before award of the degree.

  Professor-in-Charge, Training & Placement will issue suitable NOC up to 15th March,2013.

The students who are arranging their training in foreign organizations/R&D Establishmentsmay be permitted provided they do not already stand selected for summer training in anyorganization through campus. Also they should not be permitted to exercise the options

simultaneously from the list of training seats provided to the Department pending their selectionin foreign organizations.

Students are also not allowed to approach the companies that T&P contact, and utilize theseats allotted by the company to the Institute as self arranged seats. Training seats allotted tothe Institute by the organisations will be provided to the Dept for nominations based onmerit/CGPA. If any student is arranging his training on his own in the same company, the seatallotted to him should be over & above the seats allotted/being allotted to the Institute.

Third year B.Tech/Dual Degree and 4th year M. Sc. students who have compulsoryinternship may please note that Eight weeks is 8 weeks period including Saturday/SundayOR minimum 40 working days. Leave taken for more than 2 or 3 days / late reporting etc.during summer training period has to be compensated by extending the training period by as

many days.
