‘A Better Life’ : Some key early messages
• This is about all of us
• One size won’t fit all
• Let's hear the real experts
A Better Life: old age, new thoughts
Conveying our messages in a new way
• Glimpses of people’s lived experiences mostly through their own images and words
• Artistic approach - aims to engage hearts as well as minds
• Wanting to reach older people and the wider public – not just our usual policy and practice audiences
A Better Life: old age, new thoughts
What are the changes we’d like to see?
• Less focus on older age as a problem
• More focus on:– growing old as a central and valued experience of life– the rewards of older age and the contributions of older people
• More recognition that society has always had to adapt to demographic and social change
• Commitment to older people being part of this process.
