Q: Do we need to do the recording to create the Excel upload sheet?

A: Yes, we do. Record step is a manual walkthrough of the SAP transaction that needs to be automated. The next step is Map where we map the SAP fields to the Excel spreadsheet.

Q: How do you integrate SAP with SharePoint and Workflow? ie. For employee self-service, to have employees update their address data for example.

A: We can integrate SAP with SharePoint using Winshuttle forms and workflow solution. The web forms can be designed using Microsoft Infopath and workflow can be designed using Winshuttle Designer.

Q: Is the Winshuttle demo software available to see the functionality by hand?

A: Yes. Free trial software requests can be placed via Winshuttle website (http://www.winshuttle.com)

Q: How do you generate the back-up sheet/ file?

A: We can generate the backup sheet by selecting the option “Backup SAP Data” option within Advanced Run Options menu of Winshuttle Transaction.

Q: Can you also schedule data exports in CSV formats from SAP?

A: Winshuttle Query can be used to export data from SAP. We can schedule data exports using Winshuttle Central which is our governance and administration platform. Data can be exported into Excel format which can then be converted into CSV format.

Q: How is data validation done in Excel? Is Data Dictionary information actually extracted from SAP into Excel for data validation?

A: Winshuttle Transaction offers validation feature which can be turned on during the ‘Map’ process. The validation allows us to simulate the data upload process in SAP and returns the messages without posting the data into SAP. Data dictionary information is extracted from SAP.

Q: How do you use the plug-in option in Designer?

A: We can use the plug-ins by doing a simple drag and drop from the Winshuttle Designer menu.

Q: How does Winshuttle work with SAP MDM?

A: Winshuttle Transaction does not work with SAPs MDM solution. However Winshuttle Transaction is heavily used for master data maintenance and governance.

Q: Can I use Winshuttle with all transaction codes?

A: Yes. Winshuttle Transaction works with almost all SAP transaction codes.

Q: Can you tell us about negative testing/ validation? (ie. Where users have used an incorrect data format.)

A: Winshuttle Transaction offers the capability to report the log, extended log and validation log messages back to the spreadsheet. This ensures that all the messages (information, warning or error) are reported back from SAP.

Q: How is authorisation handled? Can Winshuttle handle SAP authorisation on organisational levels as well?

A: Your SAP Profile and associated authorizations control what you can do with Winshuttle. Winshuttle products that talk directly to the SAP system respect all of the existing infrastructural security in your SAP environment and do not bypass any of the existing mechanisms you have in place for protecting your SAP investment.

E.G. If you are not authorized for a given transaction code, if someone shares an upload template with you for that code you will not be able to use it due to your SAP security.

Q: Can you use Winshuttle on an iPad?

A: Winshuttle Transaction can be used via terminal services or citrix on iPad. Web forms can be used on iPad.
