South African fiscal legislation

Warning on the tax Acts

Never consult earlier versions of South African fiscal legislation without checking forward in time to look for retroactive amendments. Effective dates are supplied in this work only for amendments made in the edition year and earlier amendments not yet effective at the time of first publication of the edition. For the effective dates of earlier amendments, consult earlier editions. The effective dates of amendments follow no uniform pattern, are hugely varied, and sometimes are inaccessible to rational explanation. Moreover, they do not appear in the principal statutes themselves but are hidden in obscure amending acts.
