Tips and Insights for Podcasting Content-Lindsay Lavine

• Get permission-  For everything. The music you use, any audio clips, sound effects, voice, etc. Try to get your guest's permission in writing - either have them sign a release, or perhaps record their oral agreement before you record your show.

• Is it a business?- Do you have a sponsor? Does your site have ads? If so, your podcast may be a business that's subject to taxes and licensing. As with all businesses, you may want to explore setting up an LLC or Corporation to protect your personal assets from potential liability.

Tips and Insights for Podcasting Content-Lian DolanFind Your True Voice- Podcast listeners appreciate authenticity and confidence in their hosts. Your greatest strength is your enthusiasm and expertise. Talk about subjects you love and know about- whether it's caring for roses or interviewing newsmakers. Talk about what you WANT to talk about not what you THINK you should talk about.

Keep It Short -Work on your material, sharpen and focus on your delivery and skip the small talk.  Don't rush the material, but don't milk it either. You owe your audience a well-produced show no matter what the subject matter.

Be Committed and Consistent-Make your podcast something you want to do, enjoy doing and that you are consistent with. The consistency is how you build brand, reach and loyalty.

Own Your Niche-Focus your podcast on a few specific content areas that you want to be known for and find the best guests that are actively promoting themselves and represent the top or emerging voices in those areas.

“BlogHer is a snake meal of

ideas in a wonton wrapper of

love. Afterwards you need a 2-

day nap, then it nourishes you

for a year.”– @debontherocks
