A Christmas Carol Final Project For this assignment you’re going to create a

transmedia poster for A Christmas Carol. Transmedia is defined as using multiple

technologies to convey information. There are 4 components to this project. One component

will be the poster and the three other components will be presented on your poster

through the use of QR codes.

1.Your poster is where your QR codes will be displayed. This poster can take two forms. It can be a traditional poster or sculpture.

2.A 5 paragraph essay. 3.Artistic and/or Technology Piece 4.Video Reflection

Part 1: Transmedia Poster The first part of this assignment is the transmedia poster. This is where the three QR codes will be displayed. This poster can be a traditional poster with relevant text and images OR it can take the

place of a relevant sculpture.

When deciding if images, text, or sculpture are relevant ask yourself, how does this relate to A Christmas Carol? What am I telling by adding

this?

An example of this project is below. The student chose to construct a basketball hoop to hang their

QR codes off because the book they read was about basketball.

Part 2: Five Paragraph Essay For the second part of your project you will be

writing a 5 paragraph essay. Choose one of the following prompts:

1. How would A Christmas Carol be different if Dickens did not use symbolism as a literary strategy? Identify the three most important symbols in the story and explain their importance.

2. Each ghost marks an important step in Scrooge’s journey towards being a better person. Explain.

3. Explain how A Christmas Carol shows us there are many types of poverty.

4. Who do you think the narrator is and why? Does the story change if the narrator is removed?

Your essay must be 5 paragraphs (Introduction, Body, Body, Body, Conclusion). Your essay must answer the question with the

use of textual evidence.

Please use the outline provided and have it checked by Mr. Hysell or Miss. Savidge before

beginning your final essay.

Part 3: Art or Technology Part three is your time to get creative! You can

create anything you want as long as it summarizes the entire story.

If you enjoy art feel free to make a sculpture, painting or drawing. If you enjoy music feel

free to write a song or write a music video. If art isn’t your thing use technology to

summarize the story. You can create an avatar for a character, a digital timeline, a digital

comic, or video.

Be as creative as you want just make sure you get your project approved by Mr. Hysell or

Miss. Savidge and write a paragraph explaining your piece before you turn it in.
